I just don't get this decision from BMW at all.
They put the bigger grills on the concept 3.0CSL and the world flames it. Forums laughed and posted renders showing how amazing that car looked with 'normal' kidneys. So the feedback was there. BMW however pressed on and here we are! Obviously the board are convinced they can still capture market share...even with a slight handicap in the product. Good luck. I can't see me buying one of the huge grill models. Some designs shock initially until acceptance. Not this one, 100% no thanks.

Previous thoughts that whoever is Head of Design for BMW should be sacked from signing off approval of these oversized, upside down, planted-on (ie. Mr Potato Head’s Moustache) grilles that are destroying the quality of BMW design.
We understand the China/Asian and American markets are important, but not to the detriment of the brand. The idea is these same markets are looking and wanting to buy quality European design and that means not replicating the same inferior cheap looking designs coming out of these regions. It’s time to start considering creating sculptural front ends, others are, and leave rear wheel drive alone that will bring pride back or BMW will go down the path of a lot of other brands which will have to merge with other inferior car companies to a point it becomes diluted and non-existent into the near future. |

I think the X7 is acceptable compared to the 7 ... look 👀 at this 7 next to the beautiful E46

I might be the only one that likes it.
Im coming from a Yukon Denali, which has a grill that absolutely dwarfs the X7 and is a cheese grater design. I like that one too. |

The new 7 looks great. People complained to no end about the previous 7ers looking mundane and the moment BMW comes up with a bold design people complain even more. This is already selling better than the old 7 here in the middle east and for what its worth the grill is still smaller than the S, A8 and LS. I remember all the hate for Bangle's designs but those are the cars that allowed BMW to beat Mercedes. If you want simple designs there are plenty of 90's BMWs to choose from.

no.. they are just making them bigger and bigger so when the EV revolution finally comes we are "thankful" for the small closed off grills that EVs dont need.

great take! the target demographic for this (and other less "enthusiast" models) aren't the type of people to get on the internet and talk about cars all day!

Grilles?? Look more like jail bars. I apologize to Lexus & Audi for the "easy bake oven" look.
