Options for lowering m50i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I have a special needs son and although we tried the x7 with him prior to ordering he must have been having a good day because for the most part he struggles getting into the vehicle do to height. Right now I have to lower it (cargo load button) in order for him to get in. I assume there is a way to access the suspension model in order for it to default to it's lowest setting (at least at key on/off) instead of defaulting to the middle setting. Does anyone have any suggestions for this - the dealer of course claims it cannot be done. Thanks for any solutions

try bimmercode or find a coder. I know there is one on these forums that I've been meaning to sing us up and use.

I believe you can code it to go to load height(lowest setting) when the transmission goes into Park.

I thought you could make the car lower when you approach for easy entry just by having the key in you pocket. It was that the Aviator?

Land Rover & Range Rover "Access Entry".
I don't know of any other vehicle that does this from the factory.

This is one area I have to give BMW a big thumbs down. There should be an option to immediately lower the X7 to the lowest ride height when it's put into Park but there is no such option and to my understanding there is no coding option to do it either.

If anyone knows of a coding option that defaults the ride height to lowest setting when put into Park, please post the link (an actual link, no "I think I saw this somewhere"). This would be helpful to TAG Prez and to many other X7 owners.

My wife's XC60 does it. It's called easy entry/exit. When you shut it off, it lowers to lowest setting. The X7 needs to do the same without me having to press a switch.

PM Almaretto and/or shawnsheridan . They are two very experienced coders and have contributed a ton to the BMW coding community. For a paid coder, you can try tom @ eas and Alex@Alpine.

Peculiar that the XC90 does not do it or at least the T8 Inscription.

If you have the display key, you can drop it to the lowest setting from where ever you are. Might be a pain to do it all the time, but is an option.

Yes, this is another "top desired feature" that the X7 doesn't quite have yet. If a coder can figure out how to do this, or BMW adds this feature, it's a big win for many owners.

The desire is that when the car is shut off, it automatically drops (or raises) to a user pre-selected height setting, every time.

The XC90 doesn't do it - that's what we came out of. But I was able to source a lowering interface from Heico that plugged into the OEM air suspension and allowed it to stay at it's "Sport" height which made the car far more accessible for him. I was hoping (honestly expecting) that something like this existed for the X7 because if I can't find a solution the car will have to go. Thanks for all the feedback and feel free to reach out directly if you have an actual solution.

Yes. This is how it works in our RRSC. I love this feature because it assists the little ones and the elderly in and out of the vehicle. Hopefully one of our coding Gurus on here could crack this and provide a solution to our dilemma.
