Rpi scoops?

OK, something doesn't seem to be right. I picked these rpi scoops up from a local vendor this week and just got around to installing them. They are suppose to be for an e92 m3 but I can't imagine people running these with no mounting point on the inside. Did I end up with just the wrong ones or am I missing something? They don't look like any other e92 scoops.

Thanks,
Mike

looks like you have the redesigned rpi scoop (as do I). these just pop right in for the most part, no mounting plate needed...

So they only mount on the outer side using the OEM push pins? It didn't seem like they would be stable like that.

you can contact rpi directly, but the tabs line up pretty easily and it's pretty simple to figure out...

There's actually no drilling with these. The inner tab actually doesn't even go up against a flat surface. It pretty much just sits in the bottom of the snorkel.

You're crazy if you're saying it lines up. Haha the pushpins line up easily with the holes in the stock snorkel but nothing lines up with the inner tabs. I will try again today and mount it using just the outer pushpins, we'll see. I sorta held it there and it seemed floppy.

I have installed this scoop for my friend before.. I had to say. This is not the most sophisticated mounting design but I just use some 3m tape and use the OEM push pin. It worked. Never heard him saying it dropped or something.. Just buy some tapes and install it you will be just fine.

You have to remove the snorkel piece and then place the tabs over the edge. After that you place the snorkel piece back over. Its a little tricky and snug but that's how its done. I can post up some picture tomorrow.

I mounted it incorrectly before, when blown on the scoop titled back and blew air on the radiator. The bottom of the lid needs to sit in the snorkel, which is tedious.

If you think you can jam air into a box with a big hole in the top, go for it

No one has every shown a car to be any faster with these, and the offer has been made by numerous people to provide a Vbox to time some runs.

You know what's funny, I did that. I placed the tab on top and it felt much more sturdy. However, I didn't think the snorkel would fit back in. I guess if you're saying it does I feel more comfortable mounting it that way.

Hm interesting...

Does Rpi not have an installation guide with these?

I bought the older version i guess about 4-5 months ago and it was a bitch to screw it into the support area. I skipped and got rid of them. If this is an easy diy with just the clips i would like to place an order.

I was just thinking of putting together a DIY when I do these later this week. I'll post it up when finished since Rpi hasn't updated their site yet.

+1

I got these yesterday and realised the installation is different to the guide they currently have on their website. I was going to try and figure it out myself later, can't be too hard.. surely.

Im sure there would be a DIY soon. RPI had my car for a couple of days to take pictures of the scoop for the purpose of helping others that called in regarding the install.
