Paint Chips
Hi,
I live in a suburb about 30mins from a large city. I drive some highway but not long distances. I have about 8 chips of paint scattered all over. Doors, hood, side mirror, trunk, etc. I have had it 5 months, this seems pretty excessive. Anyone else have this issue? thanks! |

Its more in five months than I had on previous car in three years. It's just crazy imo. I have ceramic coating. Good stuff and multiple layers. Not doing anything for that. Researching best paint chip correction kit. If anyone else has a recommendation that would be amazing.

I remember on my X5M, the paint would get peppered by road debris and really do a number on the paint, especially the rocker panels.
Hope this isn’t the case here. |

For this price point, it's well worth the investment to XPEL/PPF your car. Full front, quarters and rear bumper would be my suggestion.
It all but eliminates small chips and keeps your paint pristine and makes it easy to wash.

I have a ceramic coating. I was told that you can't put ppf over that. I just didn't want to spend 3k at the time.

My car was dropped off to get Clearguard, Photosync tint, and Modesta coating. Will have the car back next week. Worth the investment.

Ceramic coating maintains your paint luster and shine, PPF protects against debris and chips. Here's a good article on the benefits of either/both: https://avalonking.com/blog/ceramic-...tion-film-ppf/

Sure thing. I recently had my McLaren 675LTS done with satin guard. Here are some photos of it. To be clear, my car us Aurora Blue metallic, so the satinguard turned it into a satin finish.
Looking forward to getting the X7 back.

Daaaaaayaaaaammmm... true beauty. I'm curious, with that satin finish, does it then require special cleaning and maintenance, like the BMW "frozen" matte paints?
You have quite the stable. I haven't decided yet, what I'm going to do for paint protection on my upcoming X7, but I'm leaning towards PPF. |

I was told to just wash like normal, but don't polish it. It is a must for me because I cannot stand paint chips.
