November idrive update?

Hi

A friend of mine is still on the March update (03/xxx), and is thinking of bringing it in for the 07/xxx update. Does anyone know if there is another large update around the corner, that he should wait for?

Some people from Europe reported 11/2019.30 as the latest version for November.

How did you get the dealership to update for you? How long did you have to leave the car there?

Any noticeable change?

If you're lucky the most noticeable change(s) involve features starting to work properly.

To date BMW hasn't yet implemented OTA updates. No one seems to know why.

Its something that BMW almost getting ready to be sued by 2019-2020 BMW users for not making their promised feature worked so far.

It's ok. I hear that BMW is about to get AOL online, so we shouldn't have to wait too long.

I’m getting my $80 back for CarPlay that’s for sure. It only worked half the time and I’m not certain it won’t start misbehaving again.

LOL, no, I'm still overseas. Coming back to the US next month, but might have some more overseas job work. If so, that would delay my X7 even more, as I'm not going to order it until I'm back home, and not gone all the time, where the rig would sit unused in the garage.

I'm being as patient as I can be.

You seem to know more about the X7 than those of us driving them around so I'm looking forward to you getting one of your own. I enjoy your posts so keep it up.

Hey, thanks, man. Enjoy you around here, too. I'm the kind of super-nerd that goes way over the top on research, for major purchases. And other than my houses, the X7 will be for me my biggest purchase ever. As you can see, my current car (2004 330i) is 15 years old, as I keep my cars an extended period. I've always promised myself I'll drive a 7-series someday, and because of extended ownership plans and health reasons, this will likely be the last car I ever buy for myself. So I'm doing it right, getting my "ultimate" car.

So, all that being said, yeah, I've been hyper-focused on researching and planning this X7 purchase. Can't wait to get my rig, and hope I can help other people along the way as well!

Does anyone know the details of the release? new features, improvements? bug fixes?

If not, then why is BMW making it more mysterious than it needs to be!

Also, has anyone is Australia been able to get the update done?

In the US here ... when I took my car in for service about a month ago, I asked the SA about updating the software since there are reports of it on this forum. He said he didn't see any work orders for sw updates on the X7 and they wouldn't do it w/o any orders from HQ.

So if there is a Nov update, it doesn't appear to be rolling out yet across the US.

My software was updated to 11/2019 by BMW dealership. So far I have not noticed any new features.

The only thing I've noticed is a new bug, the left side camera is now out of alignment.

A couple weeks ago I upgraded my software from version 07/2019.39 to 11/2019.40. It was done at the dealership during my 1st oil change service. Here is a quick summary of fixes and enhancements for this software update: Note after the software update some of your setting will need to be reset, like your remote start feature.

Summary of software fixes and enhancements:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Park the vehicle in a safe place before installation
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant (new function)
Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function (enhancements)
Lane Departure Warning with Steering intervention (enhancements)
Validity of the Remote Software Upgrade and release notes
Function updates and quality enhancements
Information about previous versions
Updating the on-board owner`s manual in the vehicle
Special information about this upgrade

Took mine in for some other recall and engine issues and they also updated the software to the November release. Biggest changes I’ve noticed are the addition of those goofy modes where you can relax or whatever. They’re a fun little gimmick and that’s about it.

Also noticed that when I leave the car it doesn’t have just the message about valet mode but also includes an option for climate conditioning the vehicle (not sure how I’m supposed to use that as I’m getting out of the car, and not getting into it!)
