Active Dual Exhaust?

I have an 40i M Sport. Are both exhausts active at all times?

I used the remote start this week while getting ready in the morning. When I went out to the car, I noted the condensation/smoke only coming out of the left exhaust pipe and wondered the same thing...

There's a valve that opens under certain conditions to open the passenger side exhaust on the 40i. For older models that use the various I6 engines, there's guides on what to disconnect to get it to default to open on both sides.
