Exactly. I received the Soldiers Medal for doing the right thing in a similar situation while in service. If I was in the car, I hope that bystanders wouldn't give up on me.

My heart and prayers go out to Paul and the drivers family. R.I.P, I will miss seeing an outstanding actor and a true car enthusiast.

I have to agree. This tragedy didn't have to happen.

Wow..this is realy shocking and sad news, the great actor Paul Walker will be missed at the big screen !
In another video i have seen the traces of the braking on the road and we all know the power of the Carrera GT, no doubt the driver was driving at high speed ,this car is made for it !
RIP....
Pic is of the driver Roger Rodas & Paul Walker

shatty news. I remember going with my best friend to the first F&F movie. We both had highly modded E30s, but purposely took his mom's Subaru wagon to go see it. We could predict our behavior that night had we left that movie in the BMWs.

The car may have been made for it, the roads are not.

With regards to the comments about people jumping into the flames to pull the victims out....while this is a noble thought, coming upon a scene like this is almost an unreal experience. Most people can't properly even come to grips with the reality of what is happening, let alone jump into a heap of burning flames.

A lot of cars today are simply getting too fast for public roads. And the road they were on didn't even look like an empty deserted type of road. It appears to be in a developed suburban area.

Tragic in many ways.

Yea, your M3 is much more suitable when you collide with a tree at high speeds...............

And when it burst into flames, which the m3 surely will not.............

Well now from eyewitness accounts people apparently did attempt to help them. From local interview footage, one guy was crying saying "we tried, we went through fire extinguishers....."

Driving the Carrera GT on the street aggressively is asking for it. That car is twitchy and the streets are not made for it. Live by the sword die by it. I am glad an innocent person wasn't hurt. I do feel for Paul and the drivers family.

And then the irony about the fact that someone who was most known for making movies about fast cars dies in a fast car, albeit as a passenger.

My 15 year old daughter is actually quite freaked out as she knows how much I am into cars, how much I am into the whole F&F franchise, and the fact that Paul Walker had a 15 year old daughter.

Another favorite movie of mine was "Point Break", and there were a lot of thematic similarities between this movie and the original F&F.

To quote Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) from Point Break...."Life sure does have a sick sense of humor".

Be interesting to see how the 7th iteration of the F&F franchise plays out. We have seen that Jason Statham has been introduced as a character, but I don't think filming is complete. Remains to be seen how they handle Paul/Brian. I'm sure the producers will pay homage in the right way.

Very sad to hear. He truly seemed like a cool guy and an overall car enthusiast. Dedicated a lot of his time to helping others as well.

My prayers go out to his family and friends...
