Tengo,

I think that's a tall order - you would need

- different rear discs that include handbrake drum in the centre hub [maybe F8x rear discs perhaps ??];
- to check piston area of oem fronts c/w new Alcon 6 pots to ensure stock master cylinder has sufficient volume capacity to be able to move a greater volume of fluid at all 4 corners.

Lots of experimenting - might be more cost effective to go for either M5/M6 4 pot rears with suitable disc or alcons AE at the rear.......

Ok, that is indeed a lot of hassle! Will just stick better pads on the rear I guess.

Interested to hear if anyone has fitted a good set that they'd recommend?

Curious as to whether there are any issues for daily driving? Not so bothered about dust, but squealing would annoy.

They're expensive and I don't track the car regularly, so was thinking to just do the fronts.

You don't need a different BBK. You need track/race pads like the pagid RS29. They are track only pads. StopTech make a nice BBK, and thats what I have on my m3, but I still have to run track pads (pfc 08).

I have tried doing fronts only and it makes the car nervous under high speed brake zones.

Get the RS29 pads and you will be good.

That's a fair point, but I've still never been all that happy with the BMW brakes despite a few different pads, so still would rather get a better set of brakes.

Fair point on the pads though and will be able to try different pads on these too.

T'city,

Jaguar XKR oem rears are 4 pot made by Alcon for 350mm discs - if you can get radial adapters, these might be a cheaper upgrade to match yr new Alcon AE 6 pot fronts...

Hi All -

RacingBrake.com has a progressive big brake upgrade system where you can start with just the front rotors and work your way up to having all 4 corners done. I have a thread in the M4 brake/suspension forum

What exactly is the difference in stock BMW OEM Brakes, Blue Caliper M Brakes and BMW M Performance Brakes in terms of stopping, dust, feel etc?

Thanks.

We got to try the RacingBrake 6-pot front calipers at Thunderhill. They worked very well
