did you mean when you turned on Drive Assistant?
when I was using this function, I did see organ and red if car couldn't detect my hands.
but , no green lights. I'd like to know as well.
Does your car change lane when you have signal on?

The green lights only come on when you are using Traffic Jam Assist. This can only be enabled on multiple lane interstates and only when traffic speeds are 40 MPH or under.

There's several threads here that talk about this. Here's one of them. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1894309

The first time I had the Assistant Driver, I couldn't figure out those green, orange and red lights. In what circumstances one should light up. My car has a car lighting system, and I perceived these blinking Assistant Driver lights as part of the color music. Only by finding on the web the manual of Assistant Driver, like your link, and trying it on the interstate I begin to understand the principle of its work. It relieves me well in traffic jams, taking some of my emotional stress. Thank you to the bright mind that came up with such a thing.

when using driver assist pro:
no lights=your hands should be on the wheel or in a brief grace period to adjust them (just enough time to unscrew a drink take a sip and put it back)
Green= your hands can be off the wheel (currently only under 40 mph in traffic jam assist)
Yellow= please put your hands back on the wheel
Red= put your damn hands on the wheel or I am stopping this car immediately

Green= your hands can be off the wheel (currently only under 40 mph in traffic jam assist) while your eyes are on the road.
Yellow= please put your hands back on the wheel
Red= put your damn hands on the wheel or that concrete barrier at the next curve is stopping this car immediately
fixed

Well, I'm colorblind so I only see them come on. I have no idea what color they actually are.

If you are colorblind, does it require to carry a special driver license? Have you tried those colorblind glasses which claims to be helpful with colorblind?

No, no special license. It's funny though, back when I had a CDL we had to have a physical every 2 years. There was a colorblind test. They held up 3 colors and you had to tell them what colors they were holding up. Duh, they always held up Red, Yellow, and Green.

As far as those glasses you mention, I have them. A company called Enchroma makes them and they actually work pretty well.

Well most traffic signals do have red, yellow, green lights separately and that's how my colorblind friend can drive and tell the difference the lights.

I'm also very glad that technology can help you!

Am I missing or not understanding something… On the way home from my hockey game the other night, almost all expressway driving, I initiated the auto-drive function at 80 something mph… It worked damn-near flawlessly. I didn’t even have the route in the BMW map, only Waze.

Let me know, please. Curious!

You're confusing "Assisted Driving Mode" with "Extended Traffic Jam Assist".

As I've posted at least twice in this thread there are very specific requirements that must be met in order for the car to drive itself without EVER touching the steering wheel.

What you experienced is what BMW calls "Assisted Driving Mode". The car drives itself and will even change lanes by itself when you tap the blinker but you have to touch the steering wheel at least every 10 seconds (approximately) before the LED's on the steering wheel start flashing yellow and then red before the system disengages assisted driving mode.

Extended Traffic Jam Assist allows you to sit back and relax and never even touch the steering wheel. You get two green lights on the steering wheel when this is active. Plus, you have to manually initiate this feature and you won't even get the option to engage it until ALL the requirements are met. If all the requirements are met you will get an option in the gauge cluster to engage it.

See below for the instructions from the owner's manual (which no one reads) that describes the functionality and requirements for each.
