I see this happening on long drives intermittently, while I am on cruise/assisted driving mode. The steering lights starts blinking yellow/red and asking me to maneuver the car myself. But alerts always go away after few mins.
It appears to me like the camera stopped communicating with the main system temporarily.
I see similar behavior on my Acura's camera based guidance system also.

Update

So on Thursday, my service advisor contacted me to authorize an extended drive test. I was told that this involves one of the technicians driving my vehicle home at night and then back to the dealership in the morning. As the issue has only occurred twice, and about a month apart over the last couple of months, I figured it was unlikely they would be able to experience the error. Well, lo and behold, it did happen to the technician on their drive home.

So while they haven't found the reason yet, they have confirmed to me that something is not working right and I find solace in that. And, for now, my vehicle is still with them but I have a loaner.

I believe what you are experiencing is normal behavior. When I have Driver Assistance Professional Plus active, this occurs under situations such as exceeding 40-miles per hour for more than a few seconds, when a motorcycle zips past me in my lane, or when a massive vehicle such as a car hauler is straddling the line between the lane I am in and the one they are in. The system will also disengage with a warning on the infotainment screen if your steering wheel is positioned when there is not a clear line of site between the dashboard camera and your eyes.

Thanks for the update. Occurs much more regularly for me. Probably daily on any drive over 15-20 mins. My appointment is tomorrow for the Adcam replacement. Will update if my results are different from yours or if mine also turns into a long time stay.

Update. This could get discouraging. Picked up the vehicle after being told issue was resolved with ADCAM replacement. I now receive the messages almost immediately after driving off. Have been told that the system may need to “relearn” after having part replaced. However, I’ve noticed that now blind spot monitoring does not work at all. Will test drive more in morning but I suspect it’s going right back.

Thank you for the update. How disappointing.

I’ll add mine! Second visit to handle the DAP permanent restriction. Dealer sent fault code list to BMWNA. SA awaited response, SA took a vacay. Two days later another SA says they extensively drove vehicle (not true per MyBMW), not able to reproduce/replicate. please talk with dealers genius desk, take video when fault occurs. I truly believe this second SA was spouting off General Motors service protocols. I await a call back from service manager to request a revisit. Anytime I drive more than 40 miles approximately I get the dreaded messages, sometimes as many as 3 simultaneous. I’m ready for my rebate due to the inability for car to do what they graciously accepted payment for. I’ll update when I get some resolution or lack thereof. I will add a snapshot of error message from my experience.

So over the last week, after a technician experienced the error in my vehicle on an overnight drive test the week prior, not much has happened. Apparently, some of the technicians, including the lead foreman, were out this past week for training with others out sick. I will post an update again in a few more days.

I’m expecting my own update tomorrow. They’ve had it for three full days and have supposedly been working with corporate to identify and fix the issue. Will post an update of my own once I get additional news.

Since having the ADCAM replacement done on mine a couple weeks ago, I haven't run into any further issues. All systems seem to be working as expected.

Despite the similar issues there seem to be different root causes. Not sure if I feel good about that or not.

For my own situation, they are now replacing the control unit as well as some associated cabling. Frankly, if this doesn’t do it I don’t know what they could replace next.

Update

So, my X7 LCI is still at the dealership for service. It has been there for 2 1/2 weeks now. They have been working with BMW North America and it is my understanding that they are seeing many faults, but have not identified the cause yet.

I had this issue a couple of weeks after taking delivery of my 2022 X5. It was a sensor issue. They replaced my passenger side mirrors. Almost a year and has yet to reappear..

If my latest update is to be believed my issue should have been resolved with the control unit replacement. I'm out of town and won't be able to confirm myself until early this upcoming week. Will post my results once I'm able to confirm but the service manager seemed rather convinced of it.

Update: Picked up my vehicle today and everything appears to be working aok thus far. Reading my work order, they specifically replaced the ADCAM Control Unit (As opposed to the ADCAM itself which they had replaced previously).

Work order also had a history of checked items which for me included: Camera, camera mounting, the windshield. They also mentioned having opened a TSARA case for BMW NA assistance in troubleshooting.

Info on TSARA: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/a...language=en_US

Will continue to follow this thread. I'm genuinely interested in what is found in what appears will be a 3+ week investigation.

After dealer visit I’ve had no issues. I was lucky enough to get a 2023 740i as a loaner id8 or 8.5? Anyway. The 740i gave me some possible clues to some of my losses of driver assistance.

I have a tendency to drive with one hand on steering wheel at the 12 o’clock position. The 740i would tell me ‘that’s an issue’ one time setting up an unbelievable scenario, starting to shut down the car from 70MPH on a toll road. As soon as I moved my hand off the center, it returned to normal driving. Also any time I lowered the wheel too low it would drop out of driving assistance. So I believe that a portion of my issues is that I have been blocking the eye sensor on my X7.

We will see if there are other gremlins.

Update

So they ended up replacing the ADCAM and the faults went away. I have had the car back for almost a week and so far there have not been any issues!
