Base vs Label - What's the REAL difference?
I am sure this has been asked before.. but is the only real difference between the two a tune? Mind you - I might think its worth it because it's tuned with a warranty witch is huge. But anything else?

More HP and an exclusive red and black interior in the Label. Also, BMW Individual colors at no cost (not all of them though).

You get to spend $20k more to talk about your “XM label” versus “XM” here on the forum costing you a few precious seconds of your life for each post. You also get red bits in your interior that really aren’t that attractive. We all know the XM is a sales disaster so you also get the benefit of knowing you helped the rest of us get a decent deal on a “base” XM until we ditch them for the next M5. Thank you!

You get the privilege of saying you were a beta tester for the new M5 powertrain.

Besides cosmetics that dont affect performance at all. The Label Red just has a different ECU tune that gives it 100hp more

You already have the best with the base model but go for the better best with the lable, simple.
I would have opted for it had it not been for a later release when I was ready to purchase. I can’t imagine how another 100hp feels in this beast. Have any of you common plebs on the base model tried the label? If so thoughts on acceleration and difference? |

Although more complicated to install and manage the BMS tune will give you a little more. |

I test drove 2023 “base” vs a 2024 Label - the Label’s drivetrain felt markedly smoother in the handoff between e-drive and ICE.
I’m not fully convinced it isn’t a tuning adjustment between MY23 and MY24 in general though. |

Was tired of all the talk so my wife and I went to test out a label at a dealership we passed only to learn they ( base or label ) can not be driven or even unlocked. The dealership told me the service department has the keys and won’t give them back until the recall is done.

Not a fan of the Label interior. The Silverstone/Vintage Coffee in my XM is so nice, the extra 100hp (that are rarely able to be used on public roads anyway) aren’t tempting enough to justify the cost with only the one interior choice.

The Silverstone/Vintage interior played large in our selection as well.

I drove both and the Label felt smoother and more refined in how it transitions from electric to gas

My thoughts exactly. Not a fan of the black/red interior as the only option. I have a base with Silverstone/Vintage and love it. I’m too old to drag race and the ~650 hp is plenty IMO.
