Doesn't bother me visually. And I'm ok without the foot kick. Small consequence in my book. I even like the extra addition you can make with a trailer hitch cover if you like.

My kick opener works fine with my stealth hitch recently installed. found the trick was to barely kick your foot underneath. Aggressive foot movement would not open it.
