F82 Door Panel Interior Trim Removal/Replacement "plugs"?
I had a few minor scratches on my door panel interior trim so I ordered the new part, removed the old piece, and went to install the new one but there was nothing for the new part to "plug into" in my door panel, just the holes.
I searched the forum but didn't see anyone discussing this and there doesn't seem to be any videos online either. I did find a picture on another thread (attached below) which looks to show black plugs (circled in blue) that the new trim piece would push into but I can't find a part # in the diagram that matches and BMW parts department has no clue. Has anyone replaced this part in the past? Know IND-Distribution made replacement painted parts so perhaps someone has installed those and knows what they are. |

Correct, its rest is realized with sealant and sometimes with heat melted ends. For some of the pins you have to order the clips from number 19, but to be honest I dont know the amount of the necessary clips, also necessary is number 17, but also here no idea how many to order.
Hope that helps.

In case anyone is interested, I ended up getting a bunch of Part 17 from BMW and they were a bit small, very difficult to put on.
I ended up buying larger clamps in the same style from a hardware store and was able to secure the piece on well. I played around with the idea of melting/sealing but the clips work great and if needed can remove the piece later on. Last edited by Kurt206; 07-22-2021 at 01:16 PM.. |
