Looks like Vettel's retirement could be the final nail to the coffin for his title hopes.

So much for that climactic final race weekend.

Unless you're a Vettel fan. I don't quite understand what is up with Ferrari in the 2nd half of the season. Their first half was brilliant, now this mess.

There was more to it than that. The spark plug change was a desperation attempt methinks.

Agree, RB is really coming good as the season progresses. I think HAM was lucky to escape with a win. MB continues to impress however, just look at Bottas' pace on the red tires.

No offense but at no time did it look like LH was pushing his tires or engine in order to keep MV behind him. He controlled the race perfectly.

59 points in the lead 4 races to go, I recall nearly hitting the roof back in 2008 jumping for joy at Hamilton's first WDC win, which couldn't have been closer, the last corner of the last race and by one single point.

Anything can happen as we all know, but as the races fall his 4th WDC gets closer.

Absolutely comical at this point. How a team with infinite resources can continue to have problems like this is amazing.

Ferrari just keep tripping themselves after the summer break. On the tracks that they had the best chance (Singapore and Malaysia) where they could've capitalize disadvantages of Mercedes and keep the championship close and alive. Reliability and driver error cost valuable points.

Faulty Spark plugs. last time I heard that issue was Vettel's Red Bull back in 2010 during the Bahrain GP.

I think Ferrari had pushed their cars too hard to keep up with the Mercedes during the first half of the season. Now reliability had caught up with them, and they had ran out of allocation.

Alonso was a cock-blocker. Even if Max couldn't overtake Hamilton, at least there's some tense moment.

Pretty much ... there's a few races left for Ham to have a DNF ... but also a few more for Vettel (which seems to be about his luck at the moment).

I'm guessing either Bottas or Ham will take the race at COTA. I'm pretty much figuring a Merc P1 & 2 with Ferrari at P3.

As for COTA ... I'm more interested in Alonso making his announcement. It would be the perfect place to state he's going to INDY next season.

Regardless of what you think of rule changes, at least they had the sense to ditch the "double points in the last race" from a few years back.

Alonso keeps blocking the race in the last few laps and ruining it for us! I hope he either retires or gets a better car soon.

I really hope not ... the championship being close is sorely needed. Besides who's going to what seat next year, there's really not much else left; the rest is a bit lackluster.

Merc all but has the constructors locked up. Ham is likely going to be champion again. McLaren made their engine choice. Checo and Ocon drama has fizzled. As far as racing excitement ... there's only so much mid-pack battles one can watch before that too becomes a bit ho-hum. At least there's Ricciardo for some levity.

He was fighting for the last points available, but yeah, he shouldn't have blocked Max like that.

Don't forget about Australia 2014 w/HAM and the mystery cracked spark plug wire. Dominated the entire weekend and then come race day, no power.

Unfortunately Ferrari arn't helping themselves.

I thought this season will be somewhat a battle between Merc vs Ferrari, HAM vs VET, 3 time world champ vs 4 time world champ. But ended up to be one of the seasons that vettel leading from season opening and wrap up with several races to go; and HAM in the first two seasons in Merc domination.
