She has arrived!

Well she also named Lapis by my daughter lol is here. Will get some interior in the morning. The Tanzanite Blue is just awesome, anyone on the fence don’t be. Short version TB II, Full Black Merino, Extended Shadow, BW Audio, Rear Entertainment ( already did fire stick, thanks 760).

Blue is my favorite color! I love the color of your vehicle.

I refrained from ordering that same color because I knew it would be impossible to keep even remotely clean here in the Pacific Northwest.

What I really love about your specific vehicle is that it's parked right in front of a "Mercedes Benz" dealership with a nice matching blue "Mercedes Benz" sign.

Eat your heart out MB!

Beautiful color. Reminds me of my first BMW, a 1996 E36 3 series in Montreal Blue.

Very nice! I was considering the same color and then second guessed myself and went with Carbon Black.

Very beautiful and I know it's a 40i M Sport because your black accent wheels. It still amazes me customers buying the much more expensive M50i cannot get these exact wheels when optioning Extended Shadowline. Come on BMW, time to get this right for your M50i customers.

Very nice! The blue looks great. Congratulations. I think those wheels are the sharpest BMW offers.

Here's an idea, buy a 40i M Sport for your wife and a second M50i for yourself and swap the wheels. She'll never notice, problem solved!

It’s actually the reason I didn’t get the 50. I couldn’t make it look the way I wanted. After driving the 40 it has plenty of zip. I live in a small town, can’t speed much lol.

It would have only cost you a few hundred to have them painted. In my case I was lucky to purchase the black accented wheels from a member here. No way I’d let that small issue stop me from buying a M50i.

For $100K plus, the car should exactly like to want it to look so good for you for going with the 40i and getting the exact look you wanted. And I test drove the inline six several times and it is plenty of engine for the X7. Once again, congratulations.

Not such a small issue for everyone. I already checked with my local dealer about having the wheels powder-coated black and he said it would be $600 and take a week. IMO it's ridiculous that BMW would leave M50i customers no other option but to spend extra money and wait an extra week to have their brand new wheels powder-coated to match the rest of the Extended Shadowline trim. Just poor marketing.

I agree it should have been offered but I’ve never bought a car I haven’t modified so if painting, powder coating or procuring a different set of wheels is the only thing I need to do I’m happy. It definitely wouldn’t stop me from buying a higher model. Nothing wrong with the 40i but I don’t believe the wheel accent color would have stopped anyone from a purchase. It was more so the 15k price difference.

It absolutely stopped me, I don’t want to modify the car, I want it the way I want it from the factory. The 15K price difference is frankly nothing and not a deterrent. Now that I have the 40i and the vehicle looks exactly the way I want ,I enjoy the crap out of the gas mileage. Trust me if I wanted the M50 or the 50 I would have it.

Not to mention the Cerium (SP?) color doesn’t handle the environment well. I wouldn’t have had wheels painted. I want them from the factory that way. It was frustrating in the beginning because I started with a 50i and couldn’t have a black grill etc. It worked out though!

You could have bought the wheels separately and then sold the cerium. It’s what I did and I ended up making money from it. Gas mileage isn’t much better then the M50i and if that’s a real concern you should have bought a Prius. If you really wanted the 50i you would of had it but obviously the price and options won you over on the 40i. Cheers.

The fuel mileage was a major factor in me choosing the 40i over the 50i. However, i live in the uk where petrol is far more expensive. But i am sure it is still a factor for everybody when choosing which model is best for them.
