Alpina is awesome. I am sure this thing is great in the performance dept. For fucks sake it has over 600hp and who doesn't love that! However the more I look at it there is no continuity in design. Graphite wheels, chrome trim, aftermarket tuner front bumper from an early fast and furious movie or Lampoons. The M50i should have been the foundation. I get that's not what they do but damn it. So much potential, unfortunately it looks cobbled together from a parts bin closet.

There are a few on here who like the look but I'm just not a fan of that front bumper. Something just doesn't look right about that addition under the bumper. The more I look at the pics the more I appreciate my M50i...biased?? :

Maybe in different colors or pictures it would look better.

Also on the wheels/rims I agree with an earlier comment something there is also off... they come off looking dirty in the pictures... I feel like I have to clean them so they can brighten back up. Maybe the finish is too dull with all the chrome. Looking forward to the TBII pics of it with shadowline trim to do a proper compare.

I think what most see with the front end is the boxy design and the add-on chin spoiler that accentuates it even further. The M50 design tries not to be boxy and more aggressive. There are two different vibes between the M50 and Alpina.
I dont think people are picking it apart because of its price either. Comments on its design (on this forum and others) would be the same if it were $75k. Its all what look you are after. I would bet some ALPINA owners will mod what they don’t like for a personal touch. There is all kinds of personalizing possibilities like removing the chrome with body color, etc...

If you watch the video closely there appears to be a Tanzanite blue XB7 in the background. You can see it when they go around the back and then move toward the front passenger side.

Doesn't that look like a TB II XB7 in the background?

Not one of the 3 has RES?? I have yet to see any 2021 X7's with RES and the Alpina was suppose to be able to have it as a option. The Tanzanite blue has red wood with white/blue interior????? You have to try really hard to get a BMW interior to clash this much.
Who in their right mind would order this color combo??

indeed

Whoever ordered this definitely wins the prize for finding the worst/ugliest interior combo.

I wouldn't waste my money on RES. I'm thinking most buyers of a XB7 don't need it. And I like the Myrtlewood trim but it would work better with Ivory leather.

They are still hideous. Everything based on luxury model and a complete afterthought. Parts bin, bolt on Alpina. Engine is awesome but wrap it up in M50i skin with premium leather, handling, and trim/ wheels that match. Sorry, but still can't get onboard with this for $150k, regardless of exclusivity. It will still get rock chips like everybody else. And no one will know it's Alpina. Proper X7M with 760i engine is all day $150k. That's exclusive.

The XB7 is the best looking of the bunch IMO. I'm surprised how many of you are in love with the sport front end. It's not ugly but it's not beautiful either. Sort of reminds me of the predator. And before you disagree keep in mind BMW is already planning a refresh of the front end of this car which tells me they're not satisfied with the look either. On a different thread a guy posted a picture of his white luxury X7 but he had the chrome blacked out and it looks great IMO. So if you prefer black over chrome that is an option for buyers who prefer the luxury front end. In the end all of this is in the eye of the buyer so whatever floats your boat.

Being as though this is already the 3yr of production is not unusual for a manufacturer to already be planning for a refresh. It's actual normal across the board.

Yeah, that's pretty much the release->lci->release life cycle.

It's also kinda funny thinking a v12 x7 wouldn't be a wee bit higher in the price range.

Alpinas are never that far off the core model they're based on and this follows the family design pretty faithfully, so I'm not sure what else folks were expecting.

Most of the negative comments about the XB7 are from M50i owners so I take their comments with a grain of salt. I don't doubt they believe what they post but its biased as most thinking is. I don't look down on any buyers choice of vehicles since it's their hard earned cash but disparaging the XB7 because you bought a M50i is nonsense. Different vehicles for different buyers. Live and let live.

There is nothing wrong with opinions and critiques of the ALPINA design. It’s not personal or done with malice. On a X7 enthusiast forum you will get some of the most focused opinions as we are their buying demographic. Some will love it, some will hate it, and many of us sit in the middle. Every design doesn’t have to be a love fest of praise to a be valid opinion.

I personally prefer the luxury look on the X7, but they should have incorporated the Alpina spoiler better (as they do on the 7 Series). That said, either the M50i or Alpina will be a good buy.
