That's what I am thinking. I was offered 2% + incentives (~$4k total discount between the two).

Do you actually want the running boards? I hate them, so bad. Man, I hate them.

I'm also not a fan of the running boards from an appearance perspective, but I can see why that would help entry/exit, especially with young kids. Wish they came in all black or something less conspicuous.

Trailer hitch and space saver spare are two options I'd think about adding if you think you'd ever need them.

We opted out of running boards despite two small children. I rented an X5 for a bit with them and hit my legs on it all week; I’ll be getting in and out much more than the kids or my wife as it’s my DD. Also, we live an area with a bit of snow and slush and were cautioned both tended to accumulate on the boards. Wish they had automated ones.

There are a number of threads on tires that speak to the advantages of the spare tire, even with run flats. That convinced me to get it as well. In the end it helps if a big issue with the tire and saves money if I move from run flats (as the spare is priced cheaper than building your own).

I was also talked into the trailer hitch based on potential difficulty and expense of doing this post build. We’ll use it for bike racks. Note that you loose the kick activated hatch with the hitch.

Wife loves the running boards. Plus we have a 5 yr old and a 7 yr old.

I have an X5 without them and the kids step on that trim piece all the time.

I still hate them. They are narrow and not very useful, especially for adults. Kids, fine I guess. If I could go back, I would not get them and would have installed aftermarket powered ones.

Well, considering the only other option for a black interior is extended merino at $4650, it didn't seem worth it.

I have the sensafin in the X5 and previously had it in the 540, and it si a fine interior.

Don't forget 337.

And yes you could always get running boards on the 40i with M-Sport. The M50i/M60i don't allow it though for some reason.

Yeah, $4650 does seem like a lot. I'm surprised bmw doesn't make leather standard in their flagship suv. I was thinking maybe they were giving an option, but if you order the V8 then you don't have a choice. Weird.

To be accurate, it's $1,950 for extended leather which can be had on the 40i now, just have to ask SA, and $4,650 for full leather.

Either way it's a personal choice but you can get it if you want in black now.

I added the space saver spare for $250, thanks for the advice. Don't think I want to tow (especially not if I lose kick-to-open, I have a buddy with a truck if I ever do.

Crystal Headlights at $2100 just did not seem worth it to me either., thought I did really want them

Not online in the US yet, I expect it will be soon. For now you can work with your SA and look at the 24 pricing guides.
