X7 - Noisy Aircondition
Yesterday I was in Munich and picked up my X7 5.0d. The car is equipped with the 4-zone AirCo and winter package. We went back home via a 3-hour Autobahn ride. The car is smooth and quiet.
However, the air condition seems to be very noisy. I figured out it has to do with the rear seat air condition. As soon as I switch it off the noise is instantly much lower. Certainly, you need to operate it, otherwise, the passengers in the rear will be cold in the winter and warm in summer. What is your experience and do you have any hints on how to operate all 4 zones and keep the noise in control? Thanks |

set it for the quiet settings and leave it on auto. that is the best option we have come up with. if it is enabled in that fashion the seat fans are louder than the entire hvac for the car.

The more climate zones you add the more blowers it will need the more noise it will create. The only way to mitigate the airliner style hum is to have it set to soft low output or shutoff the other zones and only use the front.

Thanks - thats what I'm doing now. I pre-heat the car prior to use. Once I'm in I switch the rear off and the front to the lowest level.
