Has anyone measured 0-60 times with their m50i?

Wondering if anyone used a a draggy or otherwise captured what this beast will do 0-60mph? I know BMW understates performance and it sounds like the X3MC which is supposedly 4.0 secs is actually 3.3-3.5 seconds from what I have read so if BMW says the X7 m50i is 4.5 secs 0-60 I'm guessing it is 3.8-4.1. Just wondering if anyone actually measured it yet.

BMW states that the X7 50i does it in 5.2 seconds, but Car and Driver reported 4.6 seconds after testing.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...9-bmw-x7-test/

I would be surprised if it's sub 4 seconds, but I am very curious as well about what the M50i does!

It still amazes me that such a huge vehicle is even capable of reaching 60 in the stated 4.5 seconds (and even more amazing if it's even quicker).

My former E60 M5 had an identical rating but I would assume that in real life, the X7 will be quicker than my former M5 because it's easier to handle. Getting the perfect acceleration on a RWD-vehicle with an SMG-transmission is probably more challenging than on an AWD-vehicle with a 'clean' automatic-transmission.

I test drove X7 M50i twice before ordering and it felt as fast as my 2011 X5M. Never properly measured, but I suspect it is in the low 4.1 - 4.3 seconds range. Motortrend claims my X5M would do 4.1

I'm REALLY hoping that the m50i performance is as understated as every other recent BMW seems to be. I really want to see a 3.9 secs 0-60! I'd be happy with a 4.1 though

I would not be surprised to see these in the 3s with just Racechip added. My M5 with Racechip was in the high 2s and I just added Racechip to X7 and it is very quick (much faster than I was expecting) and doesn’t feel much slower than my M5 stock. I would guess it is very close to 4 flat or high 3s. I bet it is now as fast or slightly faster than the X5 M50i and that is rated at 4.1.

I may have to pick up a draggy because now I am curious myself.

I think the discussion was regarding stock numbers. But even so, I’d guess low 4s with a basic tune. Physics is not on the side of the x7

Alpina should hopefully be in the high 3s 🔮✨

Ps please prove me wrong, would be awesome if you’re right!

Did anyone ever do a draggy on the m50? No update posts make me concerned the times aren't understated.

So the other day, I was screwing around after dropping my kids off at a farm. The road had a slight downward slope to it (Dragy called me out with an invalid ), and I didn't have time to put it in launch control with traffic coming. Long story short, from a complete stop, I did it in 4.6 secs in sport+. Might not be a stretch to think this car can do 4.4-4.3 under the right conditions. I'll do a proper set of tests on a flat road next week.

What is equally impressive is how quickly this car can do 50-100+ with a completely civilized attitude and tranquil cabin experience. Scary fun

Does your run correct for elevation?

C&D tested 4.1 sec.

I am going to do mine after break in. At my elevation, I would bet I can get 3.98 seconds. I am pretty sure I can do a sub 4 second. I got 3.97 seconds out of my 2019 X5 50i M-Sport. I found out I can get faster times NOT using launch control. I will run the fuel tank down to a few gallons and pump up the tire pressure on the X7 to do the runs. I have done a lot of 0-60 testing over the years with a lot of my cars and there is a method to really squeezing a few tenths off.
The X7 M50i feels like a sub 4 second car.
Magazine testings are lazy and only do launch control as well as run with full fuel tanks. Tires and wheels also come into play. If I read the C&D long term testing runs correctly, it looks like they did their 0-60mph on winter wheels and tires.
BMW sandbags their specs A LOT so even at high elevations on your worst day, you will get factory spec performance times.

Nice. It will be interesting to compare. What's your elevation? I'm at ~5,280.

At your elevation you crushed it. I guarantee at my lower elevation (500 ft) I can get sub 4 seconds. Android and myself did similar draggy comparison runs with identical X5 50i M-sport last year and he was at your elevation. I got more than 3 tenths lower right off the bat at my lower elevation without doing much with lower fuel weight, etc...

500 ft and when testing on a cool dry day, the tenths fall away a lot on these V8TT.
FYI, I got my 3.97 run on 20” AS tires on my last X5 50i M-Sport.
As mentioned above, the 60mph to 120 is stupid fast. I found that out on my long family trips and a pesky new Mustang GT riding my bumper at 80mph.

These guys had 4.73 sec for 0-100km/h. It should be 4.5-4.6sec for 0-60mph.

HA! I'm with you. I took a 1,600+ road trip from the east coast back to my home in Colorado. The acceleration on the highway with this car is pure fun. I had an RS6 owner come up to me at a rest top and high-five me.

I'm eager to rerun some tests. Per your suggestion, I am going to wait until the gas tank is lighter.

Sunoco 93 or 94 oct. Go down until your fuel light comes on. Make sure you have max pressure on your tires.

Around 1/2 tank of fuel and a passenger. The vehicle only has a bit over 600 miles. Not sure if the performance changes as they get a few more miles on the clock. The trap speed on the quarter mile is what surprised me the most.

Daring thing to pull during break-in. Thanks for your courage lol.

7 and soon to be 8 BMWs now and have patiently waited for the 1,250 mile break-in on all of them. Not bragging at all, just super OCD.

My wife's X7 M50i just hit 1,500 miles and forgot to play with launch control before I swapped out her summer tires for winters. Haven't even done a proper WOT.
