I agree. Lately, more X7 vehicles can be noticed in my area suggesting brisk sales.

The interior is fantastic in that scheme, Gleneagles is a wonderful hotel and country sports resort as well.

Not sure, who is the competition anyway?
My take for X7 after spending some time in it during a recent bmw event as follows:
- great looking exterior
- great everything for driver and front passenger
- second row and backwards is very cheap and small
Comparatively, in the new 7 series, you get premium look and feel anywhere you sit, perhaps more so in the back.

Regarding second row seating, my wife's highlander has better, larger and comfier captain seats. So not sure if this will sell all that great depending on what this type of buyer is looking for but if you are some exec who likes to be driven by a driver, x7 is not for you.

He owns a 7 series and comment it’s not as nice at the back shows it’s just a nicer X5 which is not a bad thing.

The 3-row "Luxury SUV" competition is:

Mercedes GLS
Lincoln Navigator
Cadillac Escalade

There are others but those are the main competition with 3 rows. The highlander is not a competitor by any stretch of the imagination regardless of it's "better, larger and comfier captain seats".

I saw one of these in a nicer suburb of Houston recently. It looks extremely imposing, even in the see of Land Rovers there.

LOL I was like wtf did he just name drop a Toyota?

I'm not sure how much this will be cross-shopped with the Escalade. Escalade folks tend to stay in the GMT truck family because they love mediocre badge engineering.

I would also add Lexus LX 570, and to a lesser extend until they refresh the interior, Infiniti QX80.

Agreed, should have included them both.

So you are laughing that a lower class 50k highlander has better rear seats vs 150k X7?

About the comps you listed, I don't think cadi or Lincoln cost as much as x7 so not sure their people will jump into x7.

I guess time will tell if x7 is a success despite lack of class in its rear.

Should have bought a Highlander.

Second row and backwards is very cheap and small?

Some of this is confusing and makes me think maybe I don't have an X7! The back of the front seats are wrapped in leather, the back seats are patterned and two toned and fully wrapped in leather. The fold down drink holder is beautiful. The windows have automated blinds and seats can be adjusted in so many directions. You can control your own blind, your neighbors blind, and can open/close the skylounge all from your 2nd row seat. If no one is in the 3rd row there is a TON of legroom. In the 3rd row there is a cup holder (leather surrounded), heated seats, a separate sunroof. Oh, and every seat has USB-C connections. This X7 blows my Rovers out of the water on finish behind the drivers row. No dig at that poster, but it makes me wonder what X7 they saw?

I'll also just point out that the 3rd row also has the side accent lighting, and even available dedicated zone climate controls. BMW definitely didn't just stick the 3rd row into the cargo compartment, they are orienting the X7 to be a "true" full 3-row SUV. Not just a 2-row with a couple jumpseats shoehorned in a cargo space. And 2nd row Captain's chairs takes that row up another notch too. BMW is really making an attempt for 2nd and 3rd row passengers to get the same plush accoutrement as the front row. I'd stop short of calling the 3rd row "luxury" seating, primarily because of the smaller space. But even me, as a big 6'3" guy, would be comfortable riding in the X7 3rd row for short to moderate drives. Not a long road trip.
