Mine's a 40i and it's referenced in the 'touchless opening and closing of the tailgate' section in the digital manual. Not sure what page number it would be. My wife can get it to work better than me. She withdraws her foot back rather quick, with the foot movement on the right hand side of the bumper

Our electronic Owner’s Manual does not have this page; so I think it’s indeed due to our having a trailer hitch; as the Manual is custom configured to a car’s specs.

Not really a big deal for us, but BMW should have flagged this in the configurator for transparency.

It definitely doesn't work when you have a trailer hitch. Our salesman told us that from the beginning.

Theres no way to manual move the 3rd row seat.

Update from dealer, there was an issue with the seat frame.

I know I don't have my x7 yet but I do have a loaner with a HUD. I didn't realize until I got this that you can't wear polarized sunglasses and see the HUD. It's super faint almost unreadable. You can turn your head and see it much easier but I was surprised to find that out. I love the polarized lenses.

It's a BMW problem going back more than 10 years. You would think that they would understand that a premium car customer would also be a premium sunglass customer.

Having owned HUD BMWs for a long time I can tell you just tilt your head a little bit and you get used to it after a while.

I have polarized, but if I turn up the brightness all the way on the HUD, I can make it out fine.

I'll just say as a pilot, I can't wear polarized sunglasses, as it can interfere with visual displays in the cockpit, just as drivers experience in new vehicles with glass displays and/or HUD's. I'm plenty happy with my non-polarized glasses, and I've shopped long and hard over the years to find my ideal glasses.

Does anyone know—or can anyone who has it already confirm—whether you can still “write” on the iDrive controller (i.e., entering in an address in the nav system) if you have the glass controls? My wife had said she wanted the glass controls, but our sales guy told us that the writing entry method would not work with the glass controls.

Yes, you can write on it. I’ve done it many times. The glass controls are a pretty big attraction for us ladies.

He's wrong. My wife loves the glass controls and have to admit they look good. The writing works on them. Get them

Are 3rd row vents included with the 5-zone climate control option? Or only the cold weather package?

Also, I don’t see the comfort access package people are talking about for the foot trunk opening on the build site.

Yes, 5 zone means the vents are included in the 3rd row.

Comfort Access is standard so the foot opening will be there. Remember to kick like a 1950’s NFL kicker, head on, not soccer style.

I searched some other forums but haven't really found my answer. I was looking through my build last night. Anyone know exactly what this is? Thanks!

S9AAA Outer skin protection
Option S9AAA EXTERNAL SKIN PROTECTION OUTER SKIN PROTECTION is a film (usually white) covering the horizontal surfaces of the paint during shipping to prevent paint staining during shipping. It is removed by the dealer upon arrival at the dealership during prep.

Aside from the CarPlay connectivity issues, I’ve now had the PDC (park distance control) malfunctioning for the last couple of days. I cleaned the sensors but they come and go (and mostly go when I’m parking in my garage). There’s a thread on PDC issues at bimmerpost so apparently a common issue but there doesn’t appear to be an easy solution. Taking it in next week

So.... third row lack of vents. How bad is it?
Just bought our X7 Msport today and do not have Cold Weather Package. We DID have a passenger front door not function properly.

When you pull the handle, the door doesn’t really open. You have to really yank hard on the handle. Sales guy was perplexed so the dealer is going to fix it before we take it home, hopefully tomorrow.

We’ve only had a handful of very hot days so far and I was smart enough to never mention my ordering faux pas and my daughter has yet to complain. Will probably be a different story when my youngest, who easily gets car sick, has to go in the third row when we have all the kids home from school and travel extensively in the summer.

So far the primary consequence of not having air vents in the third row is that you have to hit the MAX AC button and leave it engaged for a lengthier time period and that makes the front seat passengers uncomfortable because of the longer period of thrust of cold air on them.

The other important factor is how one points the air vents in the door jambs in the second row which if done properly can get AC to the third row making the situation less severe, but that means the second row passengers are a bit compromised. The whole thing reeks. BMW should be ashamed of this decision to be so cheap on something so basic in a $100K vehicle.

Big thanks, Todd. You're absolutely right, that these should be standard. On this level of vehicle, that BMW touts as a "true 3 row SUV", there should be no discussion about how you have to aim the front air vents, to launch air back to the 3rd row. Nice that 2020 makes 5 zone climate available without the CWP, but the 3rd row vents should be standard, even if the 5 zone feature part is an option.

Thanks for the feedback. Luckily we were able to hold the order and are now looking for a car with cold weather package.

The power of the forum!
