Track Wheel/Tire Setup - M340i xDrive
I need some help/suggestions on what to do about an uneven tire wear issue I have with the M340i. Just destroyed a set of MPS4S's (225/40/19) over 1.5 track days (2 separate weekends). More interesting was a sign of not enough camber likely in the front with how I destroyed them.
I'm not new to track, but this is the first time I've come across this particular issue so looking for some input on a better setup. Tire pressures didn't seem to make a difference in adjustment. Looking at going with a dedicated set for track, wheel+tire. But not sure if I need to look at doing more to address the wear issue like camber adjustments, or if a wider tire overall will just solve that issue. I like the idea of staggered, but I can't seem to find a lot of confidence in what that setup needs to be (other than I know you can configure the car supposedly from factory that way). |

I will be trading my M2 for a M340i next week and this is something I have started researching already.
Seeing your picture, the only logical solution I see would of been to back off and let the tires cool down, did you monitor temps ? PS4S are street tires that can go on track but that's about it. I think Apex is supposed to come out with wheels but the demande will be super high and it may be hard to get a set. As for camber I am not aware of camber plates available yet for the G series and it is not adjustable from the factory

I have good hopes that G80 M3 lower control arms could be fitted to the G20 to add some camber. Unfortunatly I can't seem to find any web site that as the G80 parts for viewing or available yet.
I really like this method because it adds no NVH vs camber plates.

You destroyed your good tires that are good for the street, not for the track.
Also 225/40 are too narrow for such a heavy car. Camber plates is the only solution here and running wider tires is a must.

But yeah, wider tires are for sure a must. It's worth pointing out, this is just a softer tire from my experience from the Pilot Super Sports (which I've done casual track days on previously without this issue - period). But more pointedly, this is an occasional track tire - per Michelin directly (pic attached). I'm not finding a lot of people that have done any adjustments with camber plates though on this car -which is what I'm looking for feedback on. |

I searched but no camber plates available as of now.. best option for now is using more endurance tires like Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 and crossing fingers M3 control arms fit and are not too expensive (if they ad camber)

You are literally the 3rd person that has told me to check out the Eagle F1 Supercar tires. I will honestly add that to my top list of choices. Thanks.

Update !
I just ordered these and chose AD08R because Supercar 3 were only available after my track weekend (19-20) June. I am conscious I may wear the front tires prematurely for now until we can add more camber and will try to be cautious with tire rollover and pressures/temps. I also plan on using these wheels for winter tires so I don't end up with 3 wheel sets. 19x8.5 et30 weight: 22.4lbs 245/40-19

Well, I may have overdriven the front drive side tire a little bit.... This is a product of 2 track days and 1 autoX day. Camber plates made a ton of difference on grip, but as you can see, tire wear is not even.
Guys at the track said this is a normal issue with 4s and I should try Eagle F1s or the Cup 2s... unfortunately, those tires are not made in the sizes needed for the staggered M340i. Any luck upgrading wheels? |

Vorshlag makes them for the Supra but it's not clear on there site if they actually fit the G20.

The OEM staggered sizes are really a compromise for safe, comfortable and "sportyish" daily driving.

https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=27119379 Pretty much the best we have for now on max clearance and what can/could fit. There are other threads about fitment but they either talk about 20-21inch wheels or winter tire setups.

As far as fitting 245 tires up front, even R compound tires, I really think they will get destroyed mounted on such a heavy car, especially awd. Mine is rwd. If I ever take this car to the track, it will be with camber set to at least 3.2F/2R and r-comp. tires. To be competitive on the track that is. As I said, I have not tracked this car yet, but looks like I will next year as I just sold my e92M3. I did track my previous street car f30 340i w/c. plates and r7 hoosiers and was very impressed by basically stock everything exept c.plates, tires and brake pads. M340 I with track package feels a lot more capable from what I see so far.

This coming summer I will be running 255/40-19 Eagle F1 supercar 3 with camber plates. I have fingers crossed Dinan also releases there sway bar kit, this + the MonoBalls bushing I already have should make my M340i complete.

I am very surprised tbh. What run groups are you running in? I was as fast or faster than m2 comp. with my f30 340i so I believe you that this car is faster if properly modded.
