Newbie Exhaust Question

Evening All,

I’m about to pick up my first BMW ‘M’ car; a 2018 M4 Competition Pack in Yas Marina blue.

It’s low mileage, immaculate inside and out and it has £11,000 worth of carbon extras.

Basically, it’s already the exact spec that I was planning to build up to, so as far as I’m concerned, there’s very little to improve on.

However, being the perfectionist that I am, I’m now thinking about the sound!

I have very little money left to spend after the purchase, so my question is - how do I improve the sound without spending a fortune on a new exhaust system? Looking for pops, burbles and if possible a deeper tone in general.

Thanks in advance

IMO figure out the “sound” you’re looking for first. You might get away with modifying the sound for cheap but if it’s not the sound you want then whether it cost $5 or $5000 you still wasted your time and money. There are a lot of cheap options out there, just hone in on what you’re looking for first, then look at the cost to get that sound.

Also congrats! I have a yas blue m3!

Single Midpipe = lower notes, also helps expand burble sounds.

BM3 license with GTS tune = great starting "extra burble" tune to combine with a single midpipe. Sport burbles plenty and Sport+ burbles tons. If you want more BM3 allows you change "aggression" or duration with sliders.

You should be able to find both here used for under a thousand in total. Both are DIY easy.

bm3 + single midpipe = clean, rasp free, deeper tone + more aggressive burble

If it's under warranty, you would have to flash the DME to get burbles which could void your warranty. Single midpipe and downpipes sound great with/without burbles.

Would you say that this is true for both the VRSF version and AA single mids?
