Exclamation "Asset Signature Check Failed!!!"

Anyone else on here experience the error message of "Asset Signature Check Failed!!!" upon startup? I received this error today after a series of "on/off" short trips. never saw it before or experienced it before but i have noticed the eco start/stop has been far more aggressive than before. not sure if related or simply a coincidence.

That's a very interesting message. I have never heard of that term "asset signature" before

I saw it there before I created the thread here and if you scroll down to page two you'll see I posted in that thread as well however no one has an answer and the dealer was not helpful to the X5 crowd.

It has disappeared on it's own after shutting down but I am curious what it meant and if it is something that could disable the vehicle leaving me or whomever may be driving stranded. Any X7 operators have this error message yet or am I the lucky first?

Ah yes, didn't notice you posted on that thread too, my bad.

I haven't seen it pop up on this forum yet, so looks like you're the lucky first

This person seems to have it successfully resolved at the dealer with reprogramming: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?p=25552889#post25552889

The other instances seemed to have happened with people trying to flash some modules and the process failed.

I would say if it went away on it's own it's probably not urgent, and to bring it up soon with your dealer at your convenience.

This morning I get an error message stating "Drive Train Malfunction"; "Cont. Driving Possible. Drivetrain." with a yellow wrench and then a rough idle and flashing CEL which is now a static CEL. Assuming at this point it is a bad coil or fouled plug but will update upon proper DX and resolution. Posting here for other bimmerposters who may come across the same issue down the road.

Faulty o2 sensor. Replaced. Resolved. At this point I think the two are unrelated. If issue appears again I will post details along with update.

Glad to hear that was rather speedy. Hope you get smooth sailing from now on
