Did you ever make that video? I am taking delivery of our X7 next week and am trying to make a decision on bars. Further info would be appreciated as the OEM bars look really high.
Thanks.
Here's my relative's X7 with bars. I took delivery of my X7 right when everything went south with COVID, so I haven't put bars on yet.

I believe they have OEM bars.

Just put these Yakima railbars on our X7 for a long road trip south to see family. They are super quiet and worked well with the Thule Roof Box. Amazed how quiet the car is with the box on top as well. Huge improvement from our old Acadia. Black goes really well with the M Sport Roof Rails. The sunroof still opens but does slightly touch the front bar.

Important to note that the new recommendation on Yakima.com for the X7 is two XL railbars. I can see that a L for the rear and an XXL for the front would also work but the XL bars both fit well as you can see.

Thanks for posting! Looks great. I'll be getting these at some point. No need at the moment with my lack of driving

Thanks for the Yakima photos. I think they look significantly better than the OEM bars. Time to order.

For anyone else considering these, I ordered them mid May and there is a hopeful ship date of July. They are coming from China so the actual ship date is unknown.
Traveling with our x7 at the beginning of July, so I am going to have to find a temporary alternative. I may have to relent and just buy the OEM bars.
Update: I increased my efforts and ordered from multiple vendors showing stock hoping one might actually have them. Rackwarehouse shipped them the next day. Once it is ceramic coated I will post pics with the Thule Motion Xt box attached.

Those look so sleek and great. I know you have the Thule box. If the grip for the box was like the Yakima Grantour, would the sunroof still touch when opening?

https://www.rei.com/product/171034/y...6631_b261301dd

I'm debating on this for the Thule Motion XT L. I'd get the Yakima Railbars to have a sleeker setup. Let me know if you do or if anyone has Yakima Railbars and Yakima Grandtour 16 box. Does the sunroof touch when opening with this setup? Thanks in advance.

I posted this in another thread on same subject. I don't like the OEM bars because I want something that's 1) black and 2) lower to the roofline as I not only like the look but have clearance requirements.

These bars are lower than the OEM bars, higher than some of the low profile bars and offer enough clearance to get in my garage and have the sunroof open. I have a Thule Motion XT L box.

It’s two Thule Aeroblades 7603 in black (large) with kit 184023.

Forgot to thank you for that as I got this off the forum at a great deal ($400 for both bars and the fit kit system with locks). I just put it on yesterday. Still on the fence if I want to keep it or get the Yakima ones with the Yakima box. Their grip system on the Grandtour 16 looks a little sleeker than the Thule grip to the bars, which might allow the sun roof to open. But not 100% sure.

No worries at all man....BUT looking at your photos I am wondering if I install mine backwards.

I have the lock towards the front of the car, thinner part of blade towards front, with rubber strip towards back. Maybe that's why I get some wind noise?

I noticed that too and if you look at the manual from Thule, they say to install the fat part forward.

Page 5 (step 2), shows it.

Looks great. How's the wind noise?
Btw, do you mind sharing where you picked them up at $400?

Also, now the Thule website is saying that I need to get
Thule AeroBlade Edge 7504B
Thule AeroBlade Edge 7503B

So confusing.

Ah facebook market was where I got it. It was an amazing deal. No wind noise, as there are rubber strips to prevent it. Just a little rattle due to bindings moving. Had to readjust the width of the rack to be slightly wider than standard. My stance on my snowboard and bindings are a tad wider and now fits fine once adjusted.

I was talking to Rack Attack the other day about bars and they stated that both Thule and Yakima should be coming out with newer versions of their aero blades soon since they are on indefinite backorder and no real date to fill. He said they didnt retire them yet but believes its coming soon.

If anyone is looking for an alternative to roof rails, box, etc., I grabbed the Yakima EXO system and love it. I have a very old garage with low clearance.

Hi,

May I ask what roof rack and cargo box you got in the end? My garage door is very low as well and I'm trying to determine what system to buy.

Yakima Exo system that mounts on the back of the vehicle (pics above). It's pricy but well-made and modular. I'm happy with the functionality and build quality.

I saw your picture after replied to you.

Too bad my garage is not long enough to allow more room in the back...

I will keep the Skis in my trunk for now and keep looking

The Exo base’s arms fold in when the box or ski attachment is not mounted (they are easy to remove/attach). I have an old, small garage and can easily fit the X7 in with the arms folded.
