Squeaky steering column

Does anyone know how to get rid of a rub/squeak in the steering column? I dont want to spray anything in there or use a graphite lubricant without asking around first. It's killin me

What did they replace? When I replaced they did something and it went away for a while but came back, don't think they replaced any parts then.

Holy cow how did BMWNA approve that warranty claim. There isn't a TSB on it is there? Will have to bring it up again next time.

The most common issue on most X7. Most of them need that at around 30-50K miles. Might take longer for others, but it seems to be very repetitive and very common.
You can even ask your SA, if he is well aware of his clients, he will tell you that he had seen it on so many X7s if you are in an area that has enough X7 vehicles around for him to see the common trend.

There is an SIB on this issue. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...03340-9999.pdf.

Here's the SIBs for those of you who have the groaning noise when the steering wheel is adjusted.

SOL

yeah, well I bought mine pre-owned and no warranty (still beautiful and runs like a horse) so I may try a mild lubricant spray and see if that helps or completely screws up everything - or just live with it. Really you only notice if the radio is turned down and you're making a lot of quick tight turns
