Air vent louvers greased? Pics

Hello

I happened to noticed there are heavy grease inside the two outer vents. I wiped a little bit with a piece of tissue and its definitely grease.

Why would the louvers for air vent need such heavy grease?

Please check your x7 and see it they're the same.

Searched on the g05 forums and it's apparently "German grease" and nothing to worry about.

You would think for a flagship suv, BMW would have a better and more elegant way of "greasing" the vents.

Same for me. Actually when i noticed it for the first time i was terrified that the black plastic is melting

I think it's there so much of it to make sure it won't fail within the warranty and it's that "heavy" to not sprai it all over the place. (it would be highly noticible in white interiors). And it's much faster to just slap it with a spatula than lubricate it properly.
