last year OTA 11/2022.44 was updated to OTA 11/2022.63 about a month later.

my guess is that it will release, they probably found a bug.

My son's Honda CRV, which costs a fraction of the X7, picks up my phone immediately and wireless CarPlay works flawlessly.
Yikes. I drove home from the airport, still have the note about low battery. Not much else I can do. Not sure my 12v tender will help as I think the starter motor and battery are 48V.

Cold starts are handled by the 12v starter motor so putting it on the charger should help.

MH bmws need to be charged with the hood open btw, that disconnects the 48v battery from the charging system.

Carplay gone

I took delivery in July and 8.5 was installed prior to pickup. I have had no major issues, although the carplay disconnects until a reset have been common. I just received the update to 07/2023.53 and carplay will no longer connect. I forgot vehicle and device from both and tried to resync. Bluetooth connects, but not carplay. Any ideas? Others with similar issues? I would love to figure this out before a six hour Thanksgiving drive.

No matter what version of the software you have CarPlay sucks. Mine works maybe 2 out of 10 times. Either cannot find the phone or when it finds says it cannot connect. Pure garbage. I mentioned before that my son’s Honda connects it immediately 100% of the times. The X7 is a great car but the BMW software is garbage.

As I got home this morning to plug it into the tender, it said the upgrade was available to install. Fingers crossed for no further issues.

No issues for me with 07/2023.67 Deleted and paired again after upgrade and CarPlay works without problems for 2 days.

I am absolutely pissed. My car has downloaded the 07/2023.53 update 3 weeks ago and it has been stuck there because it says the starter battery has no enough charge to instal it. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer for today so they could get it done. Fast forward 6 hours of me sitting at the dealer, not only the software installation did not work but they bricked my car. The car is basically dead and won't even start. The entire system is blocked and they don't know how to fix it. I got a loaner car for the weekend and they will call BMW on Monday to figure out next steps. I am at the point of getting rid of this car after only owning it for 3 months. I spent $110k on a brick that needs a software to work. Unreal!

Edit: Second overnight sleep cycle did the trick

Mine bricked just like yours after the update also. I did a hard reboot by holding down the volume button for 60 seconds. It rebooted and was fine afterwards. You would think the dealer tried this, but just maybe they did not?

This a big dealer but the SA is old school. He said they had to install the most updated software from scratch but during the installation it does not complete the process. Apparently there are several modules that are installed and one or two return a red X that were not able to install. He said they tried over 6 times (I sat there for 6 hours waiting) and decided to give up since it was almost time to close the dealer. They said they will call BMW on Monday. Absolutely insane that you can’t even drive the car.

Sucks for the people having issues, but outside of the starter battery thing which made me have to wait a few trips, mine installed without issue and seems to be working fine so far. I don't notice much except the font change and ability to see the miles driven when the screen turns on. My guess is the BMW service centers complained about how difficult it was to find total miles when checking in cars for service.

That is where the dealer is clueless. He said the starter battery was fine. The system was not reading it. BS! Will see what happens on Monday. I am seriously thinking about trading this car but then buy what?

I had 07/2023.33 installed beginning of august as part of a dealer service visit. 07.2023.53 is being delivered OTA in the past week.
Hi!
FYI just rented last week X7 in Italy and message about OTA 11/2023.42 shoved up.

Own X7 was that time in service and it was also updated by dealer locally on same version.

Haven't checked release notes yet.

Yes, Europe usually gets the OTAs a few weeks to a month ahead of the US.

nope, 2023 lcis are stuck on 8.0. we have an older headunit.

8.5 is only for MY 2024 cars.

oftw
they are continuing to add features and refinements to the 2023 lci.
i havent seen the release notes for 11/2023.42 (the latest load for the 2023 LCI) but they added stop sign and traffic light recognition. and im sure theres some other changes, drive assist plus seems to activate more often than before, lane changes are smoother, etc.
but yeah, it sucks that 2023 was a short run of 8 months and got the short end of the stick in terms of software because its using the older head unit.
only hope they bring the climate control quick select to 8.0- i dont think that would be that hard to do since its just adding a graphical element.
other than that, the big thing that the 2023s dont have is drive assist plus to 85mph, which im fine with, i dont think i would be ok to let the car drive hands free at those speeds, just a personal pref.
I'm already disengaged enough with the hands on drive assist...

Yea I was hoping for the quick select on the climate and the menu options on the bottom at least…just makes no sense to upgrade off the lci so quickly…
