My car should be to dealer by next Saturday, I hope.
I know the grill has been a much discussed topic. I'd like to point out that the blacked out grill makes a HUGE difference.

If you watch the video I posted comparing the X7 to the GLS you'll notice the GLS grill is much wider than the X7 grill by a few inches on either side. The new grill looks perfectly fine, it's just a matter of getting used to it. In a few months no one will even be talking about it.

The upcoming AMG GLE 53 grill compared to the X7 grill. Enough said?

I like both, but I wish X7 had similar bouncing off-road feature (E-ABC) as in new GLS and GLE. I would love to bounce with windows down and music blasting.

I think the grill is my favorite feature of the X7. And it's the only thing that differentiates the X7 from the X5 when looking head-on.

I think it looks fine as well and don't get the fuss about it being to big.

Keeping an eye on the new redesigned Mercedes GLS. Particularly as it should provide healthy competition and demand to make the X7 better, with better discounts. We should be about to see the new ones hit dealers.

Just found the above video. Interesting. Lots of similarities between the GLS and X7. I laughed at the lowrider suspension dancing.

Seems like decent interior room, but the reviewer is not the biggest of guys. Would like to see a numbers to numbers comparison with the X7.

I really like the projected navigation instructions onto the video. I can see that being very useful in situations where there are multiple turn options in a short area. It gets confusing when there are several intersecting streets on the right side, for instance, and you're trying to figure out which one the GPS is telling you to turn onto.

I never did hear a conclusion of the title of his video, which is "better", the GLS or X7.

Interesting car wash feature, but not sure how useful it really would be.

I really like the trailer automated backup function. I can see this being VERY useful for those of us who trailer, and takes the automated driving functionality to the next level.

The new GLS will be a beautiful SUV with some fun tricks up it's sleeve (E-ABC for one). As an owner of three GL/GLS's I will be test driving a 580 when they show up on the dealer lots. One area I'm disappointed with is MB's implementation of CarPlay into MBUX. The only way to use CarPlay is via a cable (wired) connection and it doesn't use the entire width of the 12.3" display. One area of interest to me is E-ABC and how it functions. GregW / Oregon owns a 2020 GLE with E-ABC and posted that it automatically lowers the vehicle when the engine is turned off and in Comfort mode. This is something I wish our X7 did automatically but even if the X7 included such an option, the time to lower the X7 is still somewhat slow whereas it's my understanding E-ABC can do this quickly. Nice feature.

In any case, the new GLS should provide some heathy competition to the segment.

I'm actually thinking about going Mineral White with the extended shadowline just to drive some of these critics nuts:

It’s crazy how everyone mentions the grille but constantly love every Audi which has an even bigger grill!

The grills on nearly every MB SUV are larger than the X7 grill so it's always been a non-issue for me personally. All the fuss about the large X7 grill comes only from a few diehard BMW faithful. No one is forcing you to buy an X7. But if the size of the grill is your only issue, know that BMW is trending in the direction of larger grills for all their vehicles. The X7 is likely just the beginning. The new 7 is an example.

Sure!

It took me a while to find those shots online.

Mind you this is (must be) still a MY19 but it comes as close to the MY20 with extended shadowline as anything else I've seen on a white xDrive40i so far...

I know, I change my opinion about my favorite color like underwear but after seeing those images, this is my new favorite color. Mineral White with extended shadowline and the black 22" M-wheels, combined with ivory interior with matching, light headliner and the black trim with aluminium-inserts. A timeless combo...

The only thing that will be different on the MY20 is that the chrome stripe between the rear lights will be black as well. As you can see, on this one, it's chrome:

Oh, and what would REALLY be the icing on the cake would be the laser-lights with the blue inserts...

Well, I still have about 4 months of hope left before I have to place my order..

The options and features on the GLS looks really good. Depending on what you're after, I feel it looks more feminine. I like the masculine look of the X7 better.

I'm partial to the GLS but I was hoping for more of a design change than what they ended up doing. Other than the new tail lamps, it doesn't look much different than its predecessor. And overall it's conservative compared to the competition in the segment. But to each his own. If you like what MB is offering and fits your needs, go for it. They make a great SUV.

Trust me, wired CarPlay is sooo much better than BMW's implimentation of wireless CarPlay. I found in my 540i and even my test drive of an M340i that its very glitchy, rarely likes to connect, and constantly will randomly disconnect. There are hundreds of posts on here with the same situation, not to mention this feature which barely works is charged at $80/year!

I haven't had any issues with wireless CarPlay in the last few iOS 13 betas. It connects every time.

Maybe iOS 13 has fixed the issues, regardless, its still been a heavily documented issue, many reviews, owners, and forum posts have mentioned it.
