I bought these too. Shipping from Germany won’t be at my dealership until first week of November.

Mine got installed today, I like them, Minnesota getting cold now so it was just in time swap from summer set to winter set. I think they look good and the ride is very good. I will see once first snow comes how the blizzacks hold but should be fine I used to had Pirelli scorpions

Where are you guys storing your summer wheels? I don't have garage space and was wondering what the options are.

Throw a blanket on it, and voila... living room end table.

Swapping out OEM tires on 22” wheels?

I was getting ready to order a 2020 X7 40i w/M Sport with 21" Double-spoke wheels, but considering a change in course based on the 2019 X7 50i w/M Sport inventory I’m seeing out there that is close to my wish list.

I live in Denver Colorado and 75% of my driving is around the city and on the highway. 25% is in the mountains with the full gamut of seasonal conditions. Most of the 2019 inventory I’m seeing that is of interest has the 22" V-spoke wheels with performance run flats. I know I can get an extra dedicated set of 21” wheels with winter tires, but wondering if its possible (and pros/cons) to pick up a set of all season tires for the 22” wheels; use them in winter months and then put back on the performance tires in the spring? My previous SUVs (Touareg and newer Volvo XC90) have all been equipped with all seasons and served me well in winter mountain conditions. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I live in Park City and need something that can go up and down a snowy road. BMW recommended Pirelli Scorpions (winter tires, studless) that would fit the 22" wheels. You have to drop the sidewall height which isn't ideal, but the BMW techs I talked to said it would be fine.

275/35/22 in front, 315/30/22 in back is the size. If you punch that into tirerack they will come up. I have them installed and they look fine. They are expensive tires, but it was still a lot cheaper than getting a new set of wheels and tires.

Thanks for the information! How do those tires perform around town and on the highway without snow/ice?

Ok so far. They are definitely louder than the OE tires but the X7 is so quiet it doesn't bother me.

I haven't really pushed the car with these tires so can't really speak to any difference in driving dynamics.

Pirelli now lists both the 275/40R22 AND the 315/35R22 on their website. Going to try and place an order Monday and see if we can get in the US now...

I called Pirelli today and a representative told me 315/35R22 did not exist. When I told her it was present on their site she put me on hold to go talk to someone else and came back to the phone and said they were out of stock to call my local dealer.

That's strange/disappointing. If you're talking direct to the manufacturer, (not just a dealer) you should be getting the true expert info. Not "sorry, those don't exist... what, you're telling me they do?.... okay, fine... then I'll tapdance and say they're out of stock."

Yeah I agree. I tried a dealer near me as well and they too don't show these tires within their online tool at all.

Striking out everywhere. Pretty sure the 315/35R22 Scorpion is an enigma wrapped in a myth surrounded by mystery at this point.

Putting 4 275's on all four wheels (keeping the 10.5's in the back) tomorrow, will see if they look completely ridiculous. If it's not too bad will run the winter that way. If they're horrible, will see if I can find a couple of used factory front 9.5 inch wheels on eBay or get 4 aftermarket wheels.

Will post a few pics after the install.

These are the Pirelli Scorpion Winters.

275/35/22 on the front. 315/30/22 on the rear. Available on tirerack.com.

My dealer told me this is what BMW USA is now recommending for the X7 with 22's.

(PS these are the Cerium Grey V-Spoke 22's, but I had them powder coated to match the shadowline trim.)
