Yeah right !!! Just like the IS350 is a 330 killer.
Lexus know how to add hp to a car but they don't know how to find the perfect balance in a car like BMW does. LEXUS: the relentless persuit of BMW.

Humerous. I was reading some of the posts of that page. Some people on there think it might have even 600 hp. It just shows the lack of maturity that comes with the lexus/rice racer folowing.
Others made good points about questioning what platform it would be in to handle a v10 or v12.

I highly doubt this car will be an "M3 Killer" however I do believe Lexus/Toyota is going to eventually (very soon) build a car that will be neck and neck with what BMW has to offer. Toyota is progessing at a very fast rate and catching on to what it takes to build a superb machine. They are extremely dedicated and will succeed. Their current problem is that their cars still lack the soul of a BMW. You know what I am talking about...that specific BMW feel that you just can't ignore. Remember the first time you drove a Bimmer? WOW.

I love the illogical, idiotic arguments on the Internet. The genius posting on Auto Spies compared to the people who post on Audi / BMW forums is like comparing Oppenheimer to a 5-year-old when it comes to explaining nuclear physics. Lexus will probably put a V8 in the IS. But will it be an M3 killer? No. Lexus is still far away when it comes to balance. The car will not have a V10 in any form, shape, or size.
Personally, I’m still waiting for the 360Li to come out. Jon.

Lexus won't be a Bimmer killer before they changed their suspension! :rocks:

They (lexus), should first try taking aim at Audi first, then try to move up to BMW. They will never win against BMW at this rate. The new IS is fast yes, but its handling and sport-inspiration inside the car is lacking heavily. Lexus is way to luxurious to compete with BMW. I think they would first have to begin by lowering that Ultra-luxury feel, and bring more of that Audi/BMW blend of sport and performance to their car (IS). If they moved in this direction first, then they might have a chance.

I still don't understand why Lexus is compared to BMW so often when it seems like they're much more in line with MB.

It seems that someone arguing from a weak position usually starts talking louder, or goes to the personal attacks, and that is what those boards tend to do, to the point that it IS 'boaring'. Sometimes even funny.

Plus, they totally ripped their early designs, (especially the LS) from MB! Jon.

lol there's a lot of random bickering with one another on this board. What's up with that? I thought it was pretty obvious that Compos Mentis was "yawning" in sarcasm over the Lexus "M3 Killer".
I have to say, the pic of the IS coupe looks HOT. It looks much better than the stunted look of the sedan with NO SPACE in the back. The IS isn't a "3 Killer", and right now Lexus just comes off like petulant children trying to compare itself to BMW. But there's also no denying the huge leap forward that Lexus took with the new IS. The competition is getting closer. BMW needs to make sure it continues to innovate AND please its customers. If they rest on their laurels, they'll end up like MB. |

Lexus will never be able to acheive the design and look that BMW has to offer...especially concerning interior looks and quality. All Japanese interiors are cheap and very plastic looking.

Today brands like Lexus and BMW have gone a long way towards closing the gap with MB because of their mis-steps. BMW stands at the top of the performance/luxury catagory, but it's clear that Lexus is gunning for BMW. I just hope that BMW recognizes the threat and keeps working to ensure their position at the top. |
