Mods for f86 x6m
Hey members, recently sold my 2012 black sapphire x6 35i (full bolt on) for a 2016 carbon black x6m. Already know i will be doing all the bolt ons available for the truck, so i ask, which companies make downpipes for us and you are running? Which tunes are out there and you are running? Intake (short ram or drop in filter)? And as for trunk lips and front lips, which ones to go for?
Thanks in advance |

Does anyone have a list of all of the ECU options? I have seen:
RaceChip Active Autowerke Velos Dinan ESS Am I missing any? Are there any significant differences between the brands? I saw the installation instructions for the RaceChip, is it the same for all of these units? |

RaceChip and Velos would be similar. Velos has one more connection. BMS same also. Dinan requires access to intercept the DME harness. Go to their site for pics. Not sure on the others.

Hi,
I am seriously considering the RaceChip product but was wondering if it is able to auto-clear tuner codes and O2 sensor codes if down pipes are present? I had JB4s for many 335 N54 and N55 engines that did this... but I really don't want to drive around with CELs all the time and have to worry about clearing these. |

Being an F** series vehicle, I'd go straight to BMS JB4 and BCM just like the F10 M5 guys...something I wish I could do in my E70.

I guess I need to cancel my racechip order! So what are the recommended catted down pipes ? You think Terry will say it's ok to get M5 JB4 and ont have to worry ?

FYI for BMS, the CEL delete method is an ECU reset script that automatically done on every engine start or certain number of driven miles, not an O2 sensor simulator.
There are a lot of bad things about that method. 1. Your car will never run fully optimized since the DME is on learning mode all the time. 2. Your car will run rich in result of not fully optimized. 3. You will not know any small engine malfunction error that is happening to your car since it is always resetted. Only the hard CEL will stays. Not bashing on them, but I got a few of customers they learned that in a hard way. And I notice that my car exhaust fumes smells rich all the time. I am going to test some brand of O2 sensor simulator soon.

Ok, but will the RaceChip allow me to clear those code manually? Or do I need to buy a Bavarian tech cable and obtain appropriate diagnostic software ?

RaceChip is just a very smooth, very sophisticated power adder. If you want to clear cat less cels buy a GoPoint and use a cell phone. Very easy. With the high flow oem BMW cats I really don't understand why you would. You will pick up sound, but power will be minimal. 10-20rwhp isn't worth the hassle. Just add another psi of boost and use 93+ octane. Good luck !

Interesting, so would the general consensus be that exhaust /cat modification is not worthwhile?
I do want more sound but if it's just for sound perhaps cat back is what I should focus on. Coming from modding n54 and n55 engines, I just assumed the down pipes was a very important mod. I only use 94 octane (Canada) so will probably be able to get the most out of the RaceChip. |

@R0ut3r , hassle is the main issue here as onfireX5 mentioned.
The downpipe installation on the BMW V8TT is very involving. But the gain, it is pretty rewarding IMO.

G-Power has also released their downpipes (catted or not)
Have a look here: https://www.g-power.com/leistungsste...anlage_533.php |

Until an independent before and after dyno is posted, I am skeptical of big hp gains with just cat delete at the current M power levels. On other platforms that I have tested , there are gains but not huge. 20rwhp is my bet. Not worth it unless you are after the sound improvement.

Anyone have any experience with the Eurocharged tune? They seem to be getting nice gains and have a 2 year/20k mile warranty in case the engine blows up. I'm considering it over a Dinan tune.

I had my FI Catless downpipe installed late last week. Noticeable difference. That plus a ECU tuning group tune. I know there are others out there but the installer liked this one, so I can always take it out for a Dinan.
FI Catless downpipe. fun. Good sound under light acceleration. Great sound under wot. Moderate acceleration gets a wrap/cackle that I don't necessarily care for. Trying for the track this Friday. Stock was 12.42 quarter Tune only was 12.13 quarter |
