550i Trapezium Exhaust Removal?
Anyone know how this rear box trapezium piece comes off, there are two nice pipes there that can be fitted with some good looking tail pipes.

Ouch, the 550i tips are awesome ... tell me your not putting circle pipes on the back and castrating the uniqueness of the 550?

well from the rear it does not look that great, that trapezium space dirties up quickly and does not look that cool, I thought if they come off easy, I could try a different look not just round pipes maybe ovals there is loads of room there, however if they are spot welded I will leave well alone.

Are you talking about on top of the trapezoid that surface collects stuff? Mine are chrome and its garage kept and regularly cleaned, I have had much of a problem except taking care of water spots after cleaning. You should have the black ones right?

The valve is bolted through the middle of one pipe, and the whole assembly including the trapezium looks to be free of the other pipe just slid on someone will have the drawing.

Funny....one of the main reasons that I bought the 550i over the 535i is because of the trapezoidal tail pipe. I love it. It looks more modern than the circular pipes that goes back to 1960's car.
I have the chrome one so it color contrast with the milano beige with I think is cool (sort of like silver vs. gold)

I used to think the trapezoid (trapezium) exhaust looked like a Lexus.....but now I am starting to think it looks like the new Acura . Quad exhaust is the only way to go. Lose the squares!

Definitely get rid of the trapezoidal tips. They look like they belong on a 90's Camaro.

Not only does it look like a camero and/or an acura, the black ones that I have on my m-sport 550i are not weathering that well. The car is 6months old and the edges of the tips are starting to rust and really looking like a 90s camero.....
I ordered 4 x 3.5" S.S. Dimisi Tips and will post the install once im done. For $99/pair, you realy cant go wrong. Im going to remove that damn Black Trapezium shit, cut back the existing inner tips and weld the new ones on. I DO NOT want to cut the bumper either so I need to come up with a solution if they dont fit right. Here is the site for the tips.... http://dimisatips.com/buy.php |
