Confirms bmw stupidity roll they are now on with grills and design.
Not long ago I wrote on another post bmw will make truck and busses soon for tapping into every possible market profit.
This is how it transforms the brand from a desirable one to an ordinary car maker.
10 years ago you could still say bmw was a sporty car maker even though having 116i and 316 with 0-60 in 11 seconds is embarrassing for bmw badge.

It’s hard for BMW to not want to make a pickup truck

The Profit margins are crazy!!!!! Over 3 million a year in sales

The problem is Platforms, second problem is engines

BMW needs a heavy duty truck platform.... it makes more sense to partner with Toyota despite their rusty frame issues and try to dip their way into the market that way

Second problem is engines..... BMW does NOT have a heavy duty mass produced V8 engine to stick in these trucks. After the N63 woes.... no one would buy it

The only engine that may work is the diesel Inline 6.... and American Truck owners love their diesels

BMW has to make their truck SIMPLE and RELIABLE.... you want to know why people drive trucks in this country... especially when they don’t have too

They are RELIABLE.... if you buy a 2019 Ford F-150 and actually use and take care of it. It would be around still running come 2029

I think you are very much confused about how a pickup is used. A Ridgeline is not a truck you can work out of. Perhaps the salesman can work out of a Ridgeline, but he can do the same out of a Civic...so why buy a Ridgeline at all?

Anyone with tools and equipment does NOT buy a Ridgeline.
How about this? I'd guess that 80% of the pickups I see on the road are never used for anything more than the occasional trip to Lowe's so a Ridgeline would be a great choice for most truck buyers.

The American auto industry is only profitable because of all the insecure suckers willing to pony up for a rugged lifestyle costume with big off-road and towing numbers.
Not to mention 84 month financing? And they wonder why they have no retirement savings and find themselves working at age 75 as greeters in Walmart...
Man, you guys are so smart. I guess the 1 million buyers of Ford and Chevy/GMC truck buyers are all wrong and the 12k buyers of the
Ridgeline all have it figured out. Next time I plan to get a Honda truck instead of the Raptor. Forget about towing, clearance, offroading on camping and beach trips, resale and style. Plus I just love front wheel drive vehicles. And while we are here, why does anyone buy a BMW, the Civic is amazing.
I should take a picture of the Home Depot and Lowe's parking lot. I live in Texas and almost every truck has a lift kit, big wheels, large exhaust, running boards. They take up two spots and they grab their plastic bags of light bulbs and get into their cab of the truck.
The only haulers I see are the black steel wheel Ford F-150 that are all banged up , ever hauling crap from Home Depot. Those Chevy guys? Heck, I see all these roofers carrying nothing in their truck. They get 18-wheelers to deliver the stuff. I saw one diesel truck pulling a partially enclosed trailer with old shingles. Probably not more than 5,000 pounds towing. The Ridgeline can haul that. BTW it can have AWD. Only a 3,000 option.

This is the most telling sign there is a truck stigma. I see vans carry more stuff than trucks . (Ladders outside and equipment inside )

Dear BMW,

Wouldn't be better if you will focus on the too many models that we have already, fix the nomenclature properly and not the last make them more reliable???
Just saying....

First of all, this is complete exaggeration. I live in Texas and while there are certainly a fair share of brodozers, most are regular full size by a large majority. And are people with full size trucks not allowed to buy light bulbs? Or do you have to buy a case of bricks just because you have a truck? Insane logic and stupid argument. Trucks can be fantastic daily drivers. For some, the Ridgeline may be great too as long as it fits your needs but does have significant limitations, including styling. The ground clearance is also crap for beach trips or even light off-roading.

I love BMWs (cars) and Adventure bikes. Hate to be a hater and pile on but that's just a bad combo. Sorry design team but that's a double poser idea.
