It's no Ferrari, but I don think the CF strut tower brace and top-mounted intercooler are nice to look at.

Yeah - was just about to say, it need's a matching oil filler cap.

Nice touch though (still not as nice as the S65 painted plenum)

With a little patience, polishing compound and a small buffer you could do the expose surfaces in place yourself, I think.

I like a little contrast for the cap - I think a billet aluminum one would be nice, to go with the silver stripes & lettering.

Honestly it probably costs them a few bucks to paint it and a few hours of their time. $300 would be a more reasonable price. Its still a nice product though. Thanks for the thread.

This is one of the best representations of SO I've seen on the site. It should be in the color threads.

I also polished the intercooler housing a bit, but think I need coarser polish and to spend more time.

Big fan of IND's work. Painting an engine cover like that is easy. Painting it with clean lines and edges with excellent consistency and finish takes some skills. IND kicks ass. Happy to have any of their painted stuff on my car. (I've seen some tacky stuff painted on the F8X)

We understand the concern regarding the price, but there is a substantial amount labor involved with these covers albeit not as much as the S65 plenum. First, all covers are completely sanded to remove the light texture present on the surface. The sanding ensures a perfectly smooth finish and not simply a paint fill. After sanding the cover the painter must mask every line and letter, which in itself can take 30-45 minutes. From there the cover is primed, base coat applied, tape removed, and finally the clear is sprayed. Although seemingly complete, all painted parts are then inspected for any imperfections in the clear, buffed, and packaged in microfiber to ensure safe delivery.

Hi Andrew and Ryan,
Im interested in this. But i have some questions... what type of paint is used on this cover? Is it the same paint used on body or some kind of "high heat" paint that can withstand the engine bay temperature? How long does it take to recieve from order date?

I'm sure they will respond, but I just wanted to say mine looks like new after 2 1/2 Years. The temperatures in the engine compartment are really not all that much greater than what is seen by the body setting in the hot sun in Abu Dhabi, I would think.

We use the same paint as all our other painted parts for the engine cover. No issues so far and we have a good amount of them out there on cars

Depending on the paint scheme it typically takes 3-4 days to paint before it ships out. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

IND Engine Cover

Just received my Alpine White (w/black stripes) engine cover for my new M2Comp and have to say that I really appreciate every dollar’s worth of effort than went into making this very high quality piece not to mention the amount of protective wrap it came in. It is far too often that relatively high cost and quality are not related. Not the case here. Clearly a somewhat frivolous expenditure but some would say that for selecting the car itself.

Thanks IND!
