I put the Modern Spare kit to the test today. My 2021 X7 40i alerted me that the front driver tire had low pressure and of course there was a nail. The air leak was really slow and theoretically I could have just driven to a tire shop because I have run flats, but I decided not to to avoid any further damage.

I used the included jack to raise the car. There was a wrench in the kit, but I didn't use it because I had better tools in my garage. The jack did a great job raising the car and the spare tire fit really well. I didn't have to use the included spacer and there was plenty of room between the wheel and brakes - take a look at the last picture below. I used a door key to show the approximate distance.

I also used the VIAIR 88P pump to top off the spare tire pressure to 60 psi and it did a great job too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I didn't notice any issues while driving the car to the shop. So my confidence level in this emergency kit is very high now and I definitely recommend it.

Thanks for this post. You bought the Modern Spare kit with the tools? Does it fit well in the spare tire section well? We will be going from the 22" staggered Pirelli summer run flats to to the Conti ExtremeContact DMWS 06 Plus all seasons non-run flats and are looking at their kits.

Yes, I got the kit with the tools and a wheel bag. Everything including the air pump fits perfectly in the spare tire section in the trunk.

the OEM spare tire is a little cheaper (mounted wheel and tire)
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...-2-36115a3e078

no spacer needed and is drilled specific for our cars. just need to add jack and lug wrench.

probably cheapest to get it from a local dealer, shipping charge will likely be steep.

I looked prior and never could find one, probably because it says X5 only and I never actually checked for the size.

But I got the Modern Spare for like $460 on Amazon with a complete kit so I think it would be about equal after purchasing a kit with the BMW spare. Regardless, glad to hear the MS fits well!

I 2nd this. BMW OE spare is the best option here. Slightly cheaper at https://www.bmwoffairfaxparts.com.

For those interested, P/N 36-11-2-470-249 is what you want. Ignore the fact that it may only show X5 fitment. I can confirm that it does in fact fit X7 (inc M50i), and is the same spare that normally comes with the factory-ordered optional spare kit.

The same here. I could never find an available X7 OEM spare. There were some messages on the forum claiming the one for the X5 fits well, but I didn't want to take my chances.

yep, on the parts lookup it shows X5, but its the same as for the x7. the brakes, which are the problem spot, are the same as with the X5

and the modern spare jack kit looks suspiciously like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Car-Jack-Kit-...dp/B09WXHCFZ3/

i would probably go with the higher capacity model that has the lug wrench
https://www.amazon.com/Car-Jack-Kit-...BZ2MY5CM/?th=1
