Just Updated to 3/2024.25

Just picked up the wife's 2023 X7 and the dealer updated it to 3/2024.25 on Friday when they did the oil service. Can't tell if anything is different yet

Garage List
2024 XB7  [10.00]
Mine auto updated a little over a week ago.

Two nights ago I went to get into my car and the digital key (my phone) did not unlock the car. I had to use the app to open it. Luckily I keep the card hidden and used that to start it BUT while I have used the card with no issues before this time it did not have my settings saved or have me logged into my BMW (it said I had no seat memory saved). I reset my phone while driving and tried turning the car off an on at a light (after I did a hard reset of the info system) and still nothing. I got home, went into the house and came back out with my phone (no key) 15 min later and everything was back to normal.

The one interesting thing is while it was not recognizing my phone or logging me in my speakers (B&W) were the color of my ambient lighting (something its never had since I got it late Nov). Then it went back to the white lights on the speakers when I got back into the car and my phone was working again.

I disabled OTA updates on my car. Happy with what is currently working fine. Don’t trust these updates at all.

^^^Bingo^^^. If your vehicle is performing perfectly then don’t keep playing around with updates. More often you are going to end up with frustration and aggravation with very little up side for the trouble. These are not smartphones waiting for the next security update.

I wish they would release some sort of changelog, so at least you can make a better decision as to whether or not to take the risk.

they added release notes with 07/2023, at least for ID8 and i think 8.5

YMMV on how helpful they are but they are there now when it asks if you want to update

Thanks, that's good to know. How helpful is the changelog? e.g. vague like "bug fixes"?

can see and decide for yourself, in the app under software update it retains the release info from the latest version in vehicle.

more detailed than "bug fixes", but not hyper specific

I have had the same service advisor for years, he usually will do pretty much anything he can for me.
