Dashcam and radar detector?

Did anyone already install a dashcam and / or radar detector to the area around rear view mirror? I am planning on installing BlackVue 2 channel and Uniden radar detector. Just wondering about any known issues.

I got the BlackVue DR900S-1CH directly hooked up to the wiring behind the rear view mirror housing. Had it done at delivery for $250.

Works like a charm - especially the streaming over the integrated hotspot:

Did not opt for the 2 channel since I did not want to run a wire all the way to the back and frankly, with the factory installed Drive Recorder, thought it was unnecessary.

I only care about recording while driving so I kept it simple (no batteries etc. installed).

I just bought a Uniden R7 ... X7 is coming in a couple weeks so interested in wiring it to the rear view mirror. If anyone else has done this, I'd be interested in hearing your experience.

Is yours the 4K? I’m wondering if they had a hardwire kit of some kind I’m looking to do it soon.

Yes, it is the 4K.

For mounting-hardware, I went here:

https://blendmount.com/aluminum-dash...dr900s-dr750s/

I also bought the wiring from them but the installer used his own.

Wanderer73 , 760Lifan and others, I'm wondering if you have any input on the Uniden R7 vs an Escort Max 360c. I see the Escort can add on a dash cam, with capabilities that the built-in BMW recorder doesn't have.

Sorry, but I don't have any experience with these two units...

I have uniden R7. It's the way to go. Get a separate dash cam. I used blend mount from my 911 and x5/x7. Mirror tapped for power to give it the clean look with blend mount.

DR900S really is 4k, unfortunately more on paper than in real-life. It's far behind the competition now.

Ad hard-wire-kit: "Well yes, but actually no." It doesn't have an ACC indication - parking mode based on no movement for 5 minutes. They have PowerMagicPro and OBD version but lets call it battery-protector.
New DR900X (and FullHD DR750X) has power, acc and voltage monitoring build-in. But except this and USB connector for LTE modem, it shares the same old HW with DR900S.

Job completed, paid a local shop to do quality installation. It is getting more complex and requires some knowledge, so why not get profi involved? Will post pix later.

FWIW, I ordered a Escort Redline 360c and paired dash cam for the new rig, when I take delivery. The Redline was released a little early with some bugs that gave disappointing performance. But recent reviews have been really really great for it.

I would have gone with the new Radenso Theia, which looks like the ultimate detector, but sadly, it keeps getting pushed back, and still isn't out.

I'll be interested to look into wiring the Escort pieces into the roof, but don't think I'll have time to do it before my road trip, so I'll have to do it literally down the road.
