Unfair how the Z4 and 8er won't look like their concepts, but this will That said, it looks decent to me. I'm satisfied as long as the chrome slash vents on the front, side and back won't materialise. Found them tacky on the concept.

Oh, and with that said. Why can't BMW just let others do the "fashionable" exhausts, and just do circular ones instead. Glad to see them stay on the M:s at least.

Not good on first looks for me, the grille is nasty especially in chrome.

Looks like a Chinese copycat.

It will... because when you drive either of those, you'll realize that BMW driving is so much better.

Look at MB now... every model they have looks better interior and exterior.. but driving a MB is like driving a fat horse.

Apparently the concept is only 5020mm / 197.6in long, which will certainly be closely followed by the production vehicle. That's only 134mm / 5.28in longer than the X5.

To be compared with 5130mm / 202in for the current GLS (next generation looks even larger), which is about the length of the corresponding sedan (S Class), and 5340mm / 210in for the new QX80.

Yes, there is going to be a long wheelbase version, but still, the standard version turns out to be surprisingly compact compared to its forthcoming rivals, compared to the corresponding sedan (7 Series: 5098mm / 200.7in), and compared to the next smaller SAV in the lineup (and we can be pretty sure the next gen X5 won't shrink down).

I was waiting so patiently to replace my X5 with the X7. Now I just feel like the only thing I need to replace is my eyes. What a complete mess.....

Is there any confirmation on the seating layout? I'm hoping for a two seat second row and a space between them for accessing the third row or cargo area. I've heard six or seven seating positions, but not sure what that means.

As far as I recall, 7 seat standard layout because most people are buying this type of vehicle primarily for its 7 seat capability.

But there will indeed be a 6 seat version like the concept, and it seems as though access to the third row will indeed be possible through the middle:

However BMW will very likely make this a luxury oriented version, so the price should follow accordingly despite the missing seat.

Absolutely terrible, oversized grills and blocky front end. Screams Lincoln or Cadillac, not BMW. I'm holding out hope that final production will be more reasonable.

My interest in the X7 is because of (1) more 2nd row leg room than the X5, which 2nd row leg room is surprisingly cramped. And (2) seating height for the driver. As I get older, with muscular issues, it's tough for me to climb up into a tall truck/SUV, or climb out of a low sedan, even a 7 series.

The X5 has almost perfect sitting height, where I can slide straight in and out. But the X5 2nd row leg room is cramped for the family.

I actually have no need for a 3rd row, and would hope that it will be optional, or at the very least REMOVABLE (by the owner), in the X7. Would rather have the extra cargo room.

X7 will have adjustable ride height and so will the new X5.
