Can I use a T-Mobile SIM card instead of ATT?

In my previous car, I was able to take out the dealer-provided ATT SIM card, and use my own T-Mobile instead. I do not see a SIM card slot in my x7. Has anyone tried to swap their original SIM cards, or perhaps could point me to its location in the vehicle?

To answer your first question
Yes it could be swap to T-mobile. "Hence you'll only need it to have hotspot internet, otherwise you're covered with the current one unlimited"

Second, there's a physical card yet it's deep in the i7 screen and you'll need a service appointment to have it changed, according to the bmw genius and they wouldn't even hint to me where is it located until I saw it on YouTube video for another purpose.

Ps. I'm in the same boat, yet waiting to use my 3GB data allowance first and then will do the swap.

FWIW, assuming there is only one SIM card (as there could be more than one in the X7 to serve different functions, but I don't know for sure) it is apparently located in the Telematic Communication Box (TCB) as seen here:

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...box/1VnYkbhHXT

This unit is actually located in the roof, and is directly attached to the shark fin antenna. Which means it is a modest PITA to get to as it would most likely require taking down the roof headliner. The TCB is module A231.

I can confirm the card is in the roof antenna. I had issues with connectivity and dealer exchanged my cell module and they had to remove headliner and get to the fin like cover from inside. Of course they did not registered the new card with ATT so I had to go again and have them fix the issue.

Thank you, I genuinely thought it's in the head unit like I saw in the video. At least now I know for sure where it is.

Out of curiosity, when you were driving around with an unregistered SIM card, did your ConnectedDrive services work, like weather and traffic?

Just had my unit replaced due to failure. Dealership said water had made it's way past the shark fin and shorted out the module. They replaced and resealed.

There's another thread about this
And I personally had an official answer.

Yes you can
You need to book a service appointment to have them swap the physical SIM cards as they are located somewhere in the shark fin I'm told or somewhere which isn't accessible for users.

Did the service department charge you for that?

Haven't done it yet
I'm still on the trial one
I assume they would as there's re-gluing of the shark fin.

Alternatively, is it possible to have the car connect to your personal hotspot?
