What sounds like worn rotors during coasting - only when cold
Hey everyone! I've got a 2019 X7 50i with about 33k miles on it and I've noticed that when the car is cold, I'll semi-regularly get what sounds like scraping brake rotors when I let off the accelerator and have the car bring itself to a stop. It doesn't seem to be brake related since activating the brakes doesn't make it better or worse and it only happens when the car is cold. If I drive it down the same street in the same conditions when the car is warm, it wont make the noise. It's not audible from the cabin unless the windows are down and it doesn't present itself with any sort of vibration or other symptom. I've tried searching and I've seen some posts about pinions and bearings but I don't think that's what Im experiencing since the noise doesn't gradually go away once the car is warm - It just literally stops. It's almost like as soon as some component reaches some certain temperature, the car stops trying to do whatever it was trying to do and I never hear the noise again until it's been sitting for a few hours (i.e. completely cold).
Any ideas? |
