I can’t seem to get my phone to show up as a mobile device for music when only connected by lighting to usb-c cable in the center console. It always worked that way on idrive7 vehicles. Am I missing something or did they remove wired audio? I can’t believe with this B&W system the only way to listen to high quality music is over wireless CarPlay which is limited to 16bit.

What happens if you try to do the same without AppleCarplay? I.e. regular idrive media/Audio app?
I hardly believe they’d remove the wired connection method.
That Will immediately the extreme benefit the B&W or even HK has over other systems.

I unpaired the phone and when I plug it in it doesn’t show up.

I think AppleCarplay in BMWs starting from ID7 has always been through wireless connection only. I understand you said it used to work just fine when wired in pre-LCI, but I wonder if data was still shared via a wireless connection regardless. Note: am only referring to audio via CarPlay; but am not sure about the iDrive media (which in my opinion, should still be an option for wired connection just like in the pre-LCI). I doubt they removed this capability. Wired connectivity is a must for B&W to work up to it's max quality threshold.

On the 2023 X7 for wired audio you must now use the USB jack next to the front Cupholder which is 1.5A. The USB-C jack in the center console is for charging only and is 3A. Same for my 2023 M5 with iDrive 7 as well.

Does the wired connection also allow for streaming or only local media?

Wow, that sucks, there is no where neat to put the phone in that area and A a becoming obsolete. I’ll have to test it out.
