X7 vs 2016 Range Rover HSE TDi

Finally got the X7 Thursday evening and sent off the RR. Drove it around a bit today and am very impressed. Couple of thoughts:

1. The technology (navigation, displays, safety options, HUD, etc) for the X7 vs RR don’t belong in the same century. I know RR got a significant upgrade in 2017 after I got mine so may be the gap is narrower now.
2. It’s obviously faster compared to the RR diesel but the mpg is similar - 20+ mpg in mixed driving today with a heavy foot
3. It’s orders of magnitude smoother over bumps and potholes - I did order the non-RF tires - May be that helps but the RR didn’t have RFs either
4. Yet, it handles and corners a lot better than the RR esp in sports mode - body lean is significantly less. I think the X7 is much closer to the ground and is not as tall as the RR
5. Lots of room for the kids and luggage. I love that the second row slides back so there is a lot of room in normal circumstances (ie when not using the 3rd row)
6. And at $85k its $15k+ cheaper than the RR.

Congrats on your new X7 and thanks for the comparison comments. I seriously looked at buying a RR because I always liked how they looked on the road. But when I finally visited a dealership, sat in, and test drove a RR it just didn't connect for me. My wife and I loved the X7 the moment we sat in it.

Post some pics of your new rider.

I know what you mean - we are extremely fortunate to be able to try out these different cars. At the end of the day, they are all great cars. Like ice cream, we each have preference for a particular flavor - mine is BMW

Attached some pics of the new ride.

I am also cross shopping now and am leaning more towards the M50d with the captain chairs in the back
