2023+ X7 Oil Reset

Has anyone figured out how to reset the oil service indicator on the 2023 X7? I've searched this forum and the interwebs and haven't found it, but apologies if it has been answered. The videos I've found that indicate 2023 also include prior years, and do not work as described as the diagnostic options appear to have changed.

When I enter diagnostic mode (by pressing start button 3 times quickly), it does get me into the mode. However, holding the BC button brings up a selectable menu in the middle of the driver's screen, with options such as Vehicle Info, Showroom Mode, etc. The only "service" option indicated is Brake Service, with suboptions such as Brake Reset, which seems to be resetting the electronic parking brake after a brake job but not sure.

There isn't any option for other service resets, and holding the BC button for longer or pressing/holding it again doesn't get my further. Oddly, you actually navigate the menu with the BC button (quick click goes to the next item, long press selects the item).

Anyone figured out the oil reset yet, for 2023 models?

See if this 2023 X7 video works for you. Reset is at the end of the video:

That video is for a pre LCI X7 with idrive 7. The 2023 LCI X7 has idrive 8 and so the procedures could be different but doesn't hurt to try.

Yeah that’s the previous version. I’ll post a picture tomorrow ot what happens when I do that. It doesn’t give a reset option like that.

Here are the images of going through diagnostic mode, and then the menu options. There isn’t anything resembling an oil service reset. There are options for brake service resets, which I think may have to do with the electronic emergency brake after service.

Any ideas?

I did this recently on my 24 760.

I either held down the gear button on the steering wheel or pushed the start button 3 times (foot off the break). One of those or both will get you into the reset menu

Hi I have the same issue did you ever get an answer?

I figure it out last month doing my oil change, since it drove me crazy.

1. Click on the stop/start button 3x to go into diagnostics mode.
2. Press and hold BC button for about 15 seconds, holding any longer will bring you into the MAIN MENU of the diagnostics mode, which you do not want (you will need to start over).
3. When you see “ Engine Oil, reset possible” on your screen
4. Press and oil BC button for about 2-3 seconds, any longer will exit the menu.
5. you see “ Engine Oil, reset ?” on your screen
6. Press and oil BC button for about 2-3 seconds, any longer will exit the menu.
you see “ Engine Oil, resetting” on your screen

Took awhile to get a hang of it. Yours should be the same as mine. Were you able to go into diagnostics mode?

When you said stop/start button, were you referring to the engine start/stop?

Yes press the engine start/stop button quickly 3 times (without stepping on the brakes), and it'll put you into diag mode.

Thanks! FAST is the keyword in pressing the start/stop button 3 times and it worked.

Some OBDII scanners purport to having oil reset capabilities. Has anyone achieved resetting this way, and what scanner was used?

After looking through all the YouTube videos and many many trial and error attempts I was to reset the oil service. But....it only reset the date and will not reset the mileage. After resetting the oil date it gives me an oil reset is not available. Thinking it had to do with the computer actually detecting an oil change so afterwards I tried again. Nope. I changed oil at 1200 miles (something I just do with new cars) so when I get my first BMW oil change I'll have 8,800 miles of oil use. No big deal except it is frustrating not being able to reset the mileage. I was able to get my Crista OBDII module connected but there is not an oil reset feature. I notified support and they said they would get it added.

if you do changes in between the free factory ones you DONT want to reset. otherwise it will push out further.
