DINANTRONICS Elite V2 - Downside?
I have a '19 540i and am considering adding a Dina Elite v2. At $1,200 for as many as 35HP at the wheel it seems like an easy decision. I'd gladly pay $34 per HP considering how much I've been willing to spend on cosmetic/audible upgrades (wheels, MPE, trim), but I'm surprised more people are not doing the same. Is there a downside to this upgrade that I'm missing?
+*More Power: Max gains of up to +40*HP and +40 lb-ft TRQ (Crank); up to +35 HP and +35 lb-ft TRQ (Wheel) +*Factory matching 4yr/50k mile new car warranty +*Designed to be 50 state emissions legal; CARB EO application pending +*Unaffected by dealer factory updates +*Quickly enabled and disabled via physical bypass plug +*Plug and play installation +*3 day satisfaction guarantee |

the only downside is that there are other options out there that will cost less and offer more power and features

Difference is Dinan will match BMW warranty with their own. Most remove their tune before their dealership visit, it goes unnoticed.

Even Dinan impact your warranty. Read the fine print. What they are offering is, Dinan will settle your bill that dealer doesn't cover under warranty. And sometime it will put you in the middle until both parties can settle the differences. Besides, for the gain they give you, you have very small risk to damage your engine with Dinan. I can promise you the same with RaceChip as long as you are running the map that give out that amount of gain.

I had a Dinan Elite V2 installed today on my new 750i xDrive and..... I can't tell the difference. Honestly, my car might actually feel slower now. And the Sport Display shows the car topping out at around 450HP. I'm wondering if they installed it incorrectly or something.

I'm pretty sure the sport display doesn't change regardless of the tune (or at least for most of them)

480 is the torque figure I assume? Does it hit pre install? Met assumption has always been those hp/tq figure are just things hardcore to rpm for that vehicle regardless what's actually produced

I was just focused own HP, but I believe both gauges go up to 480. Again, I looked solely at the HP gauge and it maxed out around 450ish when I floored the pedal. I never looked at this gauge before having the tune installed. I guess the only thing I can do to find out if this tune is improving performance is to do some timed 0-60 runs. Dinan includes a bypass plug you can install and that will eliminate the tune and take you back to stock performance, so I'll need to do a comparison between the two. Still, not being able to tell a difference on my own isn't a good sign.

Either the Elite Ver. 2 tune is beyond worthless or Dinan really did send me the wrong ECU. I haven't had a chance go do any timed 0-60 runs because of traffic during the day and bad weather at night, but my car definitely feels slower with the tune installed. Especially low end torque. It's just gone. I took the tuned ECU off and installed the provided bypass and now the car has its part-throttle torque back again. Hopefully I can do a timed run later tonight.

Also, how many miles have you driven w/ the tune? Give it a little time. It's a nice boost in power. Makes it a bit more fun.

I unplugged the Dinan ECU for a few days and ran the car with the bypass plug in its place. Then I reinstalled the Dinan ECU and it started working properly. Not sure what the problem was, but it seems to have reset itself and I'm pleased with my car's performance now.
