What I think happened in chicagox7 's case is that when a recall is issued his dealer scans their database of customers against the effected vehicles and notifies them. This will not only provide a customer service but also is a revenue stream as they get paid to do the work. It can capture those folks who may go elsewhere for th work or ignore the recall.
That makes sense as the dealer I bought from (and called me) is pretty far from where I live- as noted with the time saved to have my car ‘valet’d’ to my house. There are a few shops closer and easier I could have gone to.

I got my x7 back yesterday from getting new transmission and service advisor said they have to wait on the parts from BMW before they can schedule service appointments. That I will get a notification once parts arrive.

Story? Haven't heard of problems with the transmissions.

[QUOTE=AvGeek;30947465]Story? Haven't heard of problems with the transmissions.

2023 with less than 13,000 miles needed new transmission. Not sure how wide spread and was a little surprising to me.

The fun continues…… just tried to drive it myself for the first time sense getting it back and the cameras/sensors aren’t working. No camera or sensors trigger when I put it in reverse. I hit the park button- and nothing happens then either. Did a hard reset of the system, nothing. Turned the car off and on…. Nothing.

Just called the service dept and left a message………. Something for others to watch out for when they have this work done.

The cameras, sensors and parking button all work now. I did three hard resets and restarted the car. After the third attempt at this- left the car alone for a while then came back to it a few hours later. I started it up and they worked. I did have to re-select the ability to remote start the car via the key (press 3x and it starts- side note, I tend to use that a bunch at home rather than the app). That tells me they did some level of programming as part of the booster work that reset some of my previous settings.

Also- the dealer was quick to offer to bring it back in and to provide a better loaner had it been necessary. Was pleased with the response- even though it proved unnecessary (to date).

i suspect you are on 11/2023.58 or 03.2024.xx - programming is needed for the booster replacement, so every module that has an avail update will get it

BMWNA is issuing me a credit / mailing me a check for my February payment. I called them and set up a case for reimbursement and they responded very promptly (within a week).
