Cargo liner that covers third row?

I found the OEM BMW liner for the trunk, but it only covers the space behind the third row.

I want to make sure that dirt and mess from day-to-day trunk use doesn’t work into the white leather seats of the third row while it’s not in use and folded down. Worst case, there could be a spill in there that doesn’t get noticed for ages!

Has anyone found a custom-fit liner that covers the trunk and 3rd row?

I have found that Lloyd Mat Store has custom mats or carpet that will fit the cargo space with the third row flat.

CanvasBack

I have installed the CanvasBack cargo liner in multiple vehicles, most recently my wife's X5 and yesterday in my X7. They are custom cut for the vehicle and use an adhesive backed velcro to install. I was leery of this at first, worrying that the adhesive would either 1) not adhere to the carpet or 2) leave a residue in the heat. Thus far, I have not experienced either problem. In addition to the cargo area itself, you can get side panels and a tailgate flap.

I have also found their customer service to be excellent.

Here's the X5. Ignore the dog.

Very nice find! Something I would definitely need for my Great Dane, among other dirty items that may go in the rear. I wish I knew about these years ago for my Expedition EL, which will be replaced by an X7 in the not too distant future.

Although, it would be nice if they offered a cover for the 3rd row arm rests and for the 2nd row when folded down.

Great find, rasatter . I like how the protective canvas wraps up on the sidewalls, too! Especially how the nice leather and interior trim armrests of the 3rd row are exposed to the cargo compartment, when the 3rd row seats are folded down.

On their website, the X7 version does not cover the 3rd row armrests. The pic above is an X5....

Actual X7 Pic

This is a poor quality photo but here is the X7 liner from CanvasBack. The arms are exposed - the side panels basically just cover the carpeted areas. As you can see, though, it still cuts back on dog hair in the carpet. Some idiot decided a black interior was a great idea with a yellow lab.

Thanks, rasatter, helpful pic, even though I don't have a dog. Do wish those arm rests were covered. Covering carpet is nice for things like dog hair, but the premium material that would be good to protect really is on those sides and arm rests.

xueju1121, would like to hear about the Lloyd mat!

Lloyd Cargo Mat

I just took my X7 home two days ago. Attached are some photos of the Lloyd cargo mat that covers the third row.

It's a very high quality mat and the navy color matches the interior nicely.

Looks great. Does it fold up with the rear seats when you need to use the for people?

Haven't tried yet. But the mat is very heavy, so it may put some additional stress on electric motor.

Both look like very good solutions. Although, it is unfortunate that there are no solutions (yet) to protect the 3rd row arm rests. Dirt from cargo, in almost all cases can be cleaned off - even on leather. Even pet hair can be vacuumed up with the right vacuum attachment. But scratches/scrapes on the 3rd row arm rests is a different story.....

I was able to keep the 3rd row side area/arm rests reasonably clean in my 10 yr old Ford Expedition EL without any type of protection that these solutions offer. But scratches/scrapes is a different story despite trying to keep the interior reasonably protected...

Yes. Comes with adhesive backed velcro. So far so good with holding against carpet.

I agree the Lloyd carpet mat looks great, but isn't the point of the cargo liner to have something easily washable after hauling crap around?

Thanks man.
My Canvasback liner just arrived.
I might order the side panels for extra coverage too.

Not necessarily. I want the cargo liner to cover the third row to prevent potential damages to the seat back, since I never use the third row. I don't transport any carp in my X7, not even my Samoyed dog. I have a Toyota for him. I'm OCD lol.
