DVD w/iDrive compatibility?

I ordered my E92 about a week ago and I noticed in this picture that there is a DVD logo above one of the CD slots. Does this mean DVDs are playable through the iDrive screen? I know this is illegal in the front portion of the car, but why else would there be a DVD logo there? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I had to ask. Thanks.

Sorry...there is no direct DVD playback via idrive.

The logo is there b/c the Navigation disc is a DVD. It will read cd/MP3 cd/ and the NAV DVD. that's about it.

You can always get the TVandNAV2GO

Dvd's are not playable at all...
The dvd logo is there because the navigation system uses a dvd map.
But that's all.
If you want to watch dvd's you will have to do a Mod and you will have to get another dvd player.
Search the forums there are many threads like these...

Yea... I tried a search, "DVD" or "iDrive" brings up a barrage of threads to cipher through. Maybe if the search function took multiple variables into account for one search it would be helpful.

As far as the DVDs... are you saying that a CD needs to be in there all the time for the Nav to work? So you can't have Nav and play music CDs simultaneously?

Yes the Nav DVD needs to be in the DVD bay at the time you want to use the Nav. There is a normal CD bay just above the DVD bay to play your audio CDs.

it doesn't take that long to look at the title of the threads in the search result to see if the particular thread's content pertains to what you are looking for

and you can always try a variety of keywords to search for, e.g. I typed in "DVD movies" and came up with 3 threads of what you're looking for

In Europe, it is possible to play DVD movies but it's a pretty expensive option.

Both the cdplayer and dvdplayer play MP3s. I think you can burn a DVD of MP3s and put it in your navigation slot and play content back from that, if you really wanted.
