150 = production begins
if you look at the source code in developer mode (F12), it will tell you the production date (the day the car finishes production)
Here it is

As there's no ocean in transport, that's probably a week as well.

Just wondering what to expect now and ballparks for when the car will arrive. I have another car to sell which ideally I'd want to sell right around when we get this car. I have family coming in mid/late September so wouldn't want to sell our current SUV if there's any risk of not having the new car by then. That said, we're not driving our other SUV now and could presumably sell it at any time outside of the need for when my family comes and we need to haul 6 people regularly.

I won't make any decision until I have more concrete info, but just sort of wondering what is to be expected next from an entire process/timeline standpoint.
its about two weeks from the start of production till the car is released to carrier. then waiting for a transport.

if all the stars align, i've had a car from spartanburg flip to in production the night after the order was placed, and be at the dealer for pickup 14 days later, including a holiday weekend. i think thats on the shorter end of timing; an order later that same year took 20 days. my dealer is in the NYC area so their cars are trucked from SC.

not sure if the cars for the midwest and west are shipped by train then truck. there have been some rail delays recently.

my dealer is telling me mid to late august for delivery, and that my allocation is for a week 31 build. once the order status flips to 150, then you should have a production date assigned.

another wrinkle is EPA certification, that can delay release of the car. always a possibility at the beginning of the model year. as of right now it does not look like the X7 has had its EPA certification completed (this is normal, its usually just self certification data)

so far only these bmws have been certified for MY2023

if you are really curious, theres data hidden in the underlying code for the "my garage" webpage. developer mode in chrome exposes it
-full options list including if there were any on the fly deletions
- production status code
- production date (this will fill in and change as things progress)
I can't figure out where to find this

the production week is when the car is completed. your build locks when they start lining up all the components needed to assemble the car. thats when a vin is assigned. the production date is when your car rolls off the line, it only takes a day or two from chassis being built, painted, then assembled.
my prod date is 8/1, right now the components are being set aside, vin has been assigned, and the car is in the logistics pipeline for assembly.

So what's your car's status code? For some reason I thought code 150 means the production started. Would you please elaborate on the meaning of prod date...in your case it's 8/1.

no, bmw has blocked the ability to lookup a prod number that not in your garage.

its 150, production begins. that just means your build is locked and vin assigned, the parts are internally being ordered and things are in motion.

151 is when they put the body together
152 is when they paint the body
153 is when the main assembly into the painted shell begins

this video shows you the assembly. just know the welding of the body and painting happen 3-4 days ahead of the component assembly

Ok, I think that's the issue. I have to add the vehicle every time I log in. It doesn't stay when I click add vehicle

So code 150 would show prior to the production date or would it show on the production date? This is the first time for me to order any car...I have always bought my cars off the lot during the good old days. Thanks for your help.

aprox 2 weeks prior.

think of the production date as the born on date. thats the day it goes status 155- Production Completed.

150 is when they start ordering parts internally and assign you a vin.

153 is when the parts meet the painted body and it all comes together.

from 153 to 155, its only a few hours.

Thank you so much for the great explanation. So your X7 will be born on 8/1 ...fantastic. Then you should be receiving it maybe within 2 weeks!!

My SA told me my build week is 32. I have a auto draft from my back that expires on 9/3 I applied when the rates were low but after 9/3 I will
Have to put in another application and I will get a high interest rate.

Do you think I will be able to get my x7 before 9/3?
