X7 Wiper Blades

The wiper blades on out X7 (3 weeks old) were not wiping the window very smoothly. On the upstroke they tended to skip and hop across the glass rather than make a clean swipe. So today I called the service department and they replaced the blades. I ran then them on a relatively dry windshield and they seem to work properly. I'm know for sure if the new blades resolved the issue when it rains again. Anyone else noticing a similar issue with their X7 wiper blades?

I have a new X5 and had the same issue (in fact skipping so bad they hit the A pillar). There was a service bulletin about it and the dealer replaced my blades too.

My dealer could not find a service bulletin for the X7 but I'm wondering if it's the same issue on both since they're very similar in design. BMW likely sources the wiper blades from the same suppliers. But the good news is they made it right for both of us.

Here's the (I'm assuming X5) bulletin they referenced in case it helps: SIB 61-01-19. They noted they replaced the blades with new ones that have "double graphite."

Any news regarding your blades? Or some one else having same issue? I had mine replaced as well, still not working correctly. Here is an video of how they skip and hop across the glass.

The shop replaced ours about two months ago. They are working better than the original set but do skip at times. No that it is hot in the NE it's not as much of a problem. I expect it will become an issue again as it cools down this fall.

I have had my '19 X7 50i for a few months now and I have the same problem with the drivers side wiper. The bottom half of the blade shimmies across the windshield on the downstroke only. I had a loaner '19 X7 40i and it did the exact same thing. I have a ceramic coating on mine and it made no difference. Let's hope they can fix the problem.

For those who follow this item. I just found out that BMW in the Netherlands have a callback for this problem. The complete wiper installation should be replaced. I will make an appointment with a dealership and hopefully soon will be having a good wiping installation on my X7.

dealer is looking in to it if they have such a number and would let me know. The call back is for the models produces until end of may 2019. The models production after may 2019 are not affected. The motor of the wiper needs to be replaced.

Good to know. The date range you provided affects me. I’ll keep an eye out. It hasn’t been raining here so I haven’t had to use them

UPDATE. The car has been back to dealer and replaced the wiper motor and blades. The problem has NOT gone away, it is now even worse than before. Besides the hopping from the blades accros the screen, now they also mee a hell of lot noice. At the moment the car is back in the shop and the dealer is going to see what causes the problem. Any one else who had this problem, but with a fix that did work out?

I, luckily, don’t have this problem. It rained here pretty good a week ago and it was smooth and quiet. I DID get a large rock chip from a truck, but that’s a different thread 🤦

Hmmm don’t have the problem but I’m a week 12 build and it’s not showing up as a service item/recall for my vehicle
